This is basically bloatware personified at this point. The software is practically unusable because of all the extra junk they keep piling on to seem modern and relevant. Honestly, I'd feel safer risking identity theft than continuing to use this.

Cancelled my subscription back in 2024 and requested removal of my information. Got confirmation it was deleted. Now I'm getting emails from them every couple days starting in early 2026. Called on the 5th to double check they removed everything and they confirmed it again, yet the emails keep coming. When I tried visiting their website to find a phone number, my new antivirus flagged it as containing malicious content and warned that they were trying to access my computer. Seriously, do yourself a favor and stay away from Trend Micro. If you already have it installed, uninstall it immediately.

I've been with Trend Micro for about 3 years and just let my subscription expire. It was solid when I used it for basic phone security. Recently bought a 2 year plan for 3 devices. Setting it up on my Mac was a nightmare. Got it installed on my Android phone fine, but then things got weird. My package came with extras like Web Guard, but when I tried to enable them, the app kept asking me to grant full access to the device, claiming Trend would have total control. I wasn't comfortable with that so I skipped features I already paid for. I went to their website to send feedback about paying for something I couldn't safely use without giving them control of my device. I wrote that I paid for protection, not to make myself vulnerable to them having full access. Hit submit and got a message saying suspicious activity was detected and the form was blocked, then my entire message disappeared. Really concerning that I'm paying for security but they want complete device control.

I turned off auto renew and cancelled my Trend Micro subscription over a year ago, yet they still billed my old card today for a new subscription I didn't sign up for. I asked for a refund and made it clear I don't want their service anymore. Instead of processing it, they offered me 3 free months to forget about getting my money back. Absolutely not. They said the refund would take 5 to 7 business days but the email said it could be 14. Would not suggest this company to anyone.

The software itself is solid, but the customer service is terrible. I keep getting bombarded with emails from an old activation code trying to get me to come back. I didn't unsubscribe right away because I wanted to keep getting important notifications about my current plan. I've tried emailing them repeatedly with zero response. Tried calling and all they do is direct you online to chat with a bot instead of letting you talk to a real person. Things were fine with the bot until I needed to be transferred to a technician and they requested a form with my credit card information. No way that's happening. I just need someone from Trend Micro to remove my previous activation code, but apparently that's impossible. They're the ones who gave me the new code, so they need to fix their own mess. Eventually I just unsubscribed from the emails, hopefully that stops them. But now I'm worried I'll miss renewal reminders for my actual subscription. I'll probably switch to a different provider when my subscription runs out in 2027.

I had a brand new, unopened copy of Trend Micro antivirus from 2022. When I tried to activate it, nothing happened because they had it marked as expired in their system. I asked them to give me a new activation code and they flat out refused. Take note: you need to use their product immediately after purchasing or you'll be stuck with it.

Zero customer service whatsoever! The program says I have 26 days before renewal is needed but also claims it's already expired. When I log into their terrible site it looks like I'm on auto renewal but there's no clear way to update my payment method. Trend Micro is awful. They basically give you the cold shoulder with nobody to actually help. Wouldn't be shocked if I get hammered with spam emails after using my address to reach out to them.

Customer service basically doesn't exist. No way to send an email, no phone support. Why is it impossible to reach an actual person anymore?

What an absolute scam. I've been a customer for years but this year they decided to tack on an extra $100 charge for auto renewing. I could've bought a fresh subscription online for under $50 but they hit me with $150 plus tax. Time to switch companies. Don't trust these people.

Around 18 months back, I started noticing the monthly security reports on my Android devices were either wrong, outdated, or just missing entirely. I opened a ticket with them and in their responses they acknowledged the issue existed and said they were working on fixing it. I trusted them enough to even pay for an upgraded plan, which turned out to be mistake number one. We scheduled an online session where they asked me to uninstall and reinstall the software on several Android phones and check the reports a month later. The issue persisted but the tech said they'd escalate to their higher tier support team and get back to me. That callback never happened, mistake number two. I scheduled several more calls but they never called. I finally rang their local office and spoke with a very helpful representative who assured me we'd fix it and we uninstalled and reinstalled everything again, then waited another month.

Don't throw your money and effort away on this terrible software. There are endless glitches that have eaten up countless hours of back and forth with their tech team, and they won't even get on the phone to fix their own mistakes. I'm cancelling immediately because it's just not worth the frustration.

I paid for a yearly subscription to their VPN service. When it came time to renew, they charged my card but then shut off the service. Now they've got my money and won't help me get it working again despite spending hours trying to resolve it through chat support. This is straight up theft.

These people are crooks. Cancel your auto renewal and they'll ignore it anyway. Complain about being charged and they apologize and promise a refund, then charge you again. Complain a second time and they just issue another charge. When you push back, they claim it's Digital River's problem, not theirs.
