What Shoppers Say About History Hit
History Hit is rated 1.8 out of 5 by 25 shoppers, with a significant majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. The overwhelming complaint centers on customer service failures: subscribers report unresponsive support teams, unresolved billing issues, account access problems, and refunds that never materialize. Several customers describe being charged repeatedly while unable to access services, attempting contact through email and social media with no response, and ultimately involving their banks to resolve disputes. Technical problems compound these issues, including non-functional password resets, subscription systems that don't integrate across platforms as expected, and website content that fails to load.
Among the limited positive feedback, a small number of shoppers appreciate specific content offerings and note that the platform occasionally delivers interesting historical programming. However, these instances are vastly outnumbered by complaints about production quality (such as stationary cameras and extended talking-head segments without substantive visual content) and the overall service reliability. The pattern of complaints suggests systemic issues with both customer support infrastructure and operational execution rather than isolated incidents.

Sorted by: Most recentAbsolutely terrible experience. Signed up in December and never got the welcome email even though they charged my card right away. Emailed customer service and they seemed confused about the whole thing, then just stopped emailing back. But the charges kept coming through. In December I logged in and removed my payment method from the account. It's now March and I just found out they're still charging me for access I haven't been able to use at all. Just awful all around.
Got a gift subscription but the email with the setup link went nowhere. I've sent three separate emails over the past month with zero response. Tried reaching out on their social media accounts too and got ignored there as well. At this point I've had to get my bank involved to sort this out.
I messed up and bought the app-based subscription thinking I'd be able to stream through Prime or Apple TV. Found out pretty quickly that doesn't work at all. So I reached out and they were quick to say no problem, we'll get that refunded. I was planning to switch to their monthly plan after that. But then after their initial message on January 3rd, absolutely nothing. Radio silence. I don't get it because I wasn't even leaving, I was going to stay as a customer on a different plan. Their customer service is honestly shocking. Now I'm going to have to call my credit card company to recover the money and I'm definitely not going to buy a monthly subscription now. Really disappointing.
Subscribed through the app but now I'm locked out of my account and can't even reset my password. The support folks are telling me to contact Apple since they say the subscription is on their end and it's a whole different system. Before all this I had to bug them several times just to get the ad-free podcast feature working, which was the whole reason I signed up in the first place because those podcasts are genuinely interesting and worth paying for. But the constant headaches make it not worth the effort anymore. Now I can't access anything at all and their tech support is absolutely useless.
Skip this one. The site won't even load and you get the same error message every time saying there's a problem loading content. There's basically no customer support at all and it genuinely feels like maybe it's a scam operation. They clearly can't deliver what they're promising. I've been emailing support daily begging for my refund and getting complete silence. Sixty bucks a year for nothing is outrageous and completely wrong.
Some decent bits here and there but mostly disappointing. Just watched Dan Snow with some guy walking around Westminster Abbey and honestly all they do is chat with each other about whatever while the camera sits in one spot the whole time. How about actually showing us the place instead of just talking heads.
Was ready to pull the trigger on a subscription until I started reading reviews online. Way too many people reporting that canceling is basically impossible with this company. It's a sketchy business practice that's honestly not that rare anymore. Hopefully more people read these warnings before handing over their cash until this place fixes their act.
Another frustrating subscription that makes canceling nearly impossible. I can use my password to log in and watch content just fine, but the second I attempt to cancel the subscription, that same password gets rejected. Since I barely watch anything anyway, I'm paying way too much for what I get out of it.
Had this service for several months now but when I try to sign in, it says my subscription doesn't exist on the account. I've reached out to their customer service people more than once trying to sort out the ad-free podcast feature but nothing gets resolved. Meanwhile I keep getting emails talking about my subscription and how to access podcasts without ads, which is just salt in the wound at this point. Not worth it.
Really loving this platform so far. The shows and podcasts are top notch and entertaining while teaching you tons about history covering all sorts of time periods. Dan Snow and his crew are fantastic presenters who really make it engaging. For the price you're paying, it's absolutely worth it.
