What Shoppers Say About ABBYY USA
ABBYY USA receives polarized feedback, with 6 shoppers rating the store 3.8 out of 5. Satisfied customers praise the company's product quality and responsive customer support, highlighting how FineReader effectively extracts text from images and PDFs, and noting that support staff have resolved issues promptly even for legacy software versions. The Lingvo Dictionary is also commended for its comprehensive language resources. However, dissatisfied shoppers report significant performance issues, including slow application launch times and sluggish PDF scrolling compared to competitors like Adobe Acrobat. One reviewer experienced severe problems with software activation that persisted across multiple attempts, while another encountered unresponsive customer service during their initial support request.
A major concern raised involves customer service disputes and refund practices. One reviewer reported that after requesting a refund due to poor OCR output quality, the company refused the request and subsequently disabled account access, allegedly providing incorrect information to PayPal to undermine a dispute. This complaint stands in stark contrast to other reviews praising the company's support responsiveness, suggesting experiences vary considerably depending on the circumstances and representatives involved.

Sorted by: Most recentThis software turned out text that was complete nonsense and totally unusable. I'll admit I probably lacked the skills to operate it correctly. When I asked for my money back, they refused and then disabled my access as retaliation. They also gave PayPal incorrect details to make sure my dispute got rejected. The behavior was really unethical.
I purchased Abbyy FineReader 12 Pro and ran into serious problems. For three straight days I couldn't get it to activate. The company wasn't answering my messages, and there's no live chat option available. I ended up downloading the free trial out of desperation so I could at least work for a week. That version wouldn't activate either because you need the serial number, which you can't get without activating first. Eventually Abbyy looked into things and provided excellent support through email, and everything got sorted out.
Love what this product does and their customer service is outstanding. Previously I paid $300 for another vendor's support and they couldn't resolve my issue. Abbyy shows you how it's supposed to work.
I'm disappointed with my Abbyy FineReader purchase. The application runs slowly when I scroll through PDFs, and it needs 10-15 seconds just to launch on my powerful computer. By comparison, Adobe Acrobat opens in under a second and scrolls smoothly even with huge files. When I submitted a support ticket about PDF forms not functioning like they do in Acrobat, the response basically amounted to "that's normal." I definitely shouldn't have spent the money on this.
A malware removal tool damaged my copy of Abbyy Finereader Pro, but the company's support team responded right away and fixed everything without any hassle or complications. Finereader has become one of my most valuable tools, and I've consistently received great support even when using older versions that were supposedly no longer maintained. Other companies could learn a lot from this approach.
