What Shoppers Say About Peter Pan Bus Lines
Peter Pan Bus Lines receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 1.5 out of 5 stars from 13 reviews. The most serious and recurring complaints involve frequent delays and buses failing to show up, hidden fees that increase the final ticket price beyond what appears at checkout, and poor customer service including rigid policies and unhelpful staff interactions. Long-time customers report these issues as chronic problems spanning years. A small number of reviewers praised the company's friendly drivers, reasonable base pricing, and comfortable seating, though these positives are vastly outweighed by operational and service failures.
Key grievances include facility charges and hidden fees that make tickets more expensive than advertised, buses arriving significantly late or not arriving at all (particularly during bad weather), inflexible policies that charge fees for minor changes like switching to an earlier available bus, and difficulties with recent transitions affecting ticket exchanges. Shoppers express frustration that refunds are difficult to obtain and that the company does not make exceptions for long-time customers or challenging circumstances.

Sorted by: Most recentWe thought Peter Pan was great and the team and drivers were super helpful and friendly. The price was reasonable and the ride itself was comfortable. One thing though was our seats were unlatched because they had been adjusted for someone with a disability who didn't end up traveling. The driver going to Martha's Vineyard was fantastic but unfortunately we never got her name.
This is an unreliable company that hides junk fees in their pricing to make it seem cheaper than it actually is. These so-called facility charges aren't real fees, they're just tricks to bump up your final bill.
Had a ticket booked on Peter Pan to get from Boston Logan airport to Hyannis on a Sunday morning at 11:45. Got there at 10:15 from my flight and was at the bus stop by 11:15. I stood around until 12:30 when I finally saw a Peter Pan bus, but had to wave it down. The driver told me he wasn't picking anyone up because of bad weather. Two more buses passed without stopping until 1:30. I ended up buying a ticket on Plymouth and Brockton instead and got to my destination fine. When I asked Peter Pan for a refund, they rejected it and claimed their buses were all in service. They even said the driver reported nobody was waiting at that terminal that day, which is completely false. Don't bother with Peter Pan. Look at other bus companies like Plymouth and Brockton who actually provide reliable service.
My bus arrived significantly late. I usually go by train, but the schedule wasn't working out for me to catch my flight, so I decided to book with Peter Pan instead. Throughout my 15-20 years as a customer, I've experienced numerous instances where buses didn't show or ran behind schedule. Forget about getting your money back unless you specifically purchased a refundable option.
My bus came earlier than planned, so I asked if I could board the noon trip instead of the 1 PM one. They wanted to charge me a fee for that switch, even though there was obviously room on the bus. As someone who's been riding for years, that felt wrong. I was exhausted after traveling all night, and they wouldn't make any exception for a long-time customer. Everything is about strict rules and squeezing out extra money.
This was awful. I bought a ticket through another website for Megabus. When I get to the DC station, they tell me Peter Pan took over operating Megabus only a week ago. The ticket exchange instructions didn't work at all. The person at the counter was extremely rude and not helpful whatsoever. I ended up buying the last available seats, paying nearly four times what I originally spent. The bus showed up way behind schedule. Just book with Flixbus instead.
I need to report something about reckless driving. On June 28, 2024 around 3:20 PM, Peter Pan bus number 798 blew through a yield sign on the Race Street ramp onto I-95. It came extremely close to hitting my car, maybe 8 to 10 inches away. While heading north on I-95, the same bus kept crossing solid white lines, changing lanes repeatedly without signaling. It also drifted into the right lane that was clearly marked as ending, just to pass traffic, then merged back without signaling. This isn't the only time I've witnessed Peter Pan buses driving recklessly. Please address this issue before someone gets seriously hurt or killed.
I'd be careful booking with Peter Pan for several reasons. Their website has outdated pages advertising discounts that don't actually exist, and some features just don't work. Their booking fees are significantly higher than competitors and you won't notice how much they add until you get to the final payment screen. Staff confused me once by pointing out the wrong bus, and when the correct one showed up late, the driver moved incredibly slowly getting people loaded despite it being headed to the airport. Plus their customer service page mentions reissue fees and other charges that Peter Pan might take if you make changes, but these details are rarely explained upfront. The lack of transparency here is concerning. I'd suggest checking out Flixbus first since their prices are lower and their operation runs more smoothly.
Trip from Washington to New York on September 4th at 6:00 PM. Never again. I'm done with this company. The person working the Washington ticket booth (gray hair, no name tag) was incredibly rude and toxic. It's disappointing that's who represents the company to customers. We got stuck waiting 40 minutes on a hot bus in the Washington station, then they put us in an old, poorly maintained bus where the driver refused to make any stops during the 4-plus hour trip so people could grab water or food. We had no water after sitting in that heat for so long. We were trapped in an awful situation with zero apologies. This was honestly the worst bus experience I've had.
