What Shoppers Say About Maison Margiela
Maison Margiela receives highly polarized feedback, with shoppers rating it 1.6 out of 5 based on 19 reviews. The store struggles significantly with website stability and inventory management. Shoppers report critical issues including site crashes during product drops that result in overbooking, persistent inventory discrepancies between online displays and actual stock, payment processing problems, and repeated order cancellations. A strict 30-day customer service policy has frustrated customers seeking support beyond that window.
On the positive side, some shoppers praise the brand's customer service team, particularly the Italian support staff who have gone above and beyond to resolve issues and handle defective items. Product quality, particularly fragrances, receives appreciation from satisfied customers. In-store experiences have been noted as professional and welcoming. However, these positive interactions are significantly outweighed by technical failures and logistical frustrations that have left the majority of recent reviewers disappointed.

Sorted by: Most recentI'd give zero stars if I could. The Supreme collab drop showed me how incredibly unprepared their website really is. The site went down for 40 minutes. When it came back up, it took my payment and confirmed my order without issue. The problem? The site kept showing the item in stock for another 10 to 15 minutes, charging thousands of people for stuff that wasn't there. Almost a full day passed before I got an email saying my order was cancelled. When I reached out to their support team, they basically admitted they accept overlapping orders. Basically their site blindly charges you, locks up your money, then manually cancels everything the next day when they realize there's no actual inventory. A luxury brand shouldn't have a store that works worse than a small local shop. Don't trust them with your data or credit card.
Overall things have been decent. I ordered sunglasses online, ran into payment trouble, and the Italian customer service team stepped in and took care of it. I've shopped at their physical location a few times and the staff has always been great. That said, I did buy a bag and jacket from another location and both had serious issues. The bag was glued instead of stitched and looked dried out. The jacket's zipper was completely stuck.
If zero stars were possible I'd give it. Their policy is absurd - they refuse to help with anything outside 30 days. This is legitimately the worst customer service I've ever dealt with.
I had an amazing experience with their online support team. When I got a defective item from another luxury retailer, Maison Margiela went above and beyond to help me out. The staff really cared about fixing the problem. I'm switching to ordering directly from them from now on.
Their fragrances are fantastic and the customer service team was super helpful. They handled my problem really quickly.
Worst shopping experience ever. I got notified a product was back in stock and spent over a week trying to purchase it. When I called customer service twice, they said the inventory wasn't available yet. Finally managed to place an order and the next day it got cancelled. I tried ordering again through the website and the same thing happened. Called them back and was told it was out of stock. Their customer service is pathetic. You'd expect a luxury brand to actually want to help customers, but apparently not.
Genuinely the worst customer service I've had. My order was supposed to have 4 items but I only received 1. I've been stuck on hold and my emails go unanswered. Still waiting to see if replacements even show up. This has been a terrible ordeal. Skip this company and just buy from Sephora or anywhere else that carries these products.
I ordered shoes on July 17 and requested a size exchange just two days later on July 19. Once they got my return, I spent the next 20 days going back and forth trying to get my correct size, and nothing happened. Eventually I gave up and asked to cancel. It took another 24 days before the money hit my account. This is the poorest customer service I've ever seen, and for a high-end brand this is completely unacceptable.
Ordered a Mother's Day gift that never showed up. It's been over a week and I've tried contacting them twice every day for a week straight, sent six to eight emails, and made six to eight calls lasting about 20 minutes each. Now I'm filing a claim with my bank. The reps are nice and apologetic, almost like they're being pushed around, but nothing gets resolved.
We purchased the Laces ring at their Paris location back in December and after about two weeks of regular use, it started falling apart. The enamel seems defective and just peels away. We called their customer service about a replacement or refund and they asked us to send it back, which we did in February. It's been months now with no word, no refund, and no replacement. They do respond to emails, but it's always the same generic message about monitoring the case. Their customer service stays in touch but only to say they're still working on it. This has been one of my worst shopping experiences.
