What Shoppers Say About Level Lock
Level Lock products receive consistently negative feedback from shoppers, with 2.4 out of 5 by 20 reviewers. The most common complaints center on reliability and functionality: units jam frequently, become unresponsive, experience rapid battery drain, and fail to perform their core functions like remote access and proximity-based unlocking. Multiple reviewers report unexpected lock behavior, late or incorrect alerts, and features like Tap to Go and Home Key that rarely work as intended. Customer support, while described as friendly, appears unable to resolve fundamental hardware and software issues. Several shoppers express regret over their purchases and would not recommend the product to others.
While a minority of reviewers give higher ratings, the overwhelming majority report that Level Lock fails to deliver the convenience and peace of mind expected from a smart lock. Common frustrations include three-minute time windows for touch functionality, inability to integrate digital keys with iPhone Wallet, troubleshooting that consumes dozens of hours, and in one case, a lock that opened by itself. The product's aesthetic appeal is occasionally mentioned as a positive, but poor reliability consistently outweighs any design benefits in shoppers' overall assessment.

Sorted by: Most recentLooks good but performs poorly. The Level Lock has been among the worst smart home investments I've made. Right from the start, it jammed constantly and never worked smoothly. It would open and close unexpectedly and kept throwing errors or becoming unresponsive. The main reason to get a smart lock is convenience and peace of mind, but this one gave me neither. All it did was cause aggravation and make me question if my door was really locked. Customer service was equally frustrating. When I contacted them about the problems, responses were slow and unhelpful. After trying multiple times to get it fixed, they basically said warranty didn't cover it and suggested I just buy replacement parts. For this price, that's completely unacceptable. Looking into it more, I discovered many other people reporting the same reliability problems and bad warranty experiences. Do yourself a favor and explore other smart lock brands. This product simply doesn't justify the cost.
Don't purchase the Level Lock pro. There's a reason their website doesn't show customer reviews. I wish I'd found this information first. Got this lock after being told my old Kevo lock app wouldn't be supported anymore. That app was fantastic for letting guests in remotely. The company said I'd get a decent discount. Really wish I'd done better research and looked at alternatives. The worst problem happened when the lock kept unlocking and locking by itself. But here's the real nightmare: my husband went to swap out the battery. It's inside the bolt itself, and you place it in the middle, then screw on a thin cap with barely any threads. A few hours later that cap came loose, and the battery fell inside the actual lock mechanism and got wedged in tight. We couldn't open our front door for several days until our handyman could come out. He had to remove the entire lock, but couldn't budge the bolt part yet. He pounded it so hard the lithium battery started smoking. I had my fire extinguisher standing by. This was absolutely my worst experience. We even had someone on the phone from their support team, but nothing.
Nice looking but unreliable and unsafe. I purchased the Level Lock+ and ran into trouble immediately. Alerts came in late or were wrong, the battery drained super fast, and the Tap to Go and Home Key features barely functioned. I never felt confident leaving without carrying a physical key. The scariest part was when the lock opened all by itself. I'd get home late at night or back from being away to discover my door already unlocked. Thought maybe the app was glitching at first, but it wasn't. Their customer service team was actually responsive and swapped it out, yet the replacement had the exact same problems. I even grabbed Level Connect hoping that would fix things. Nope. It looks great but doesn't work right. A smart lock that makes you less confident about your home's security isn't very smart. Do yourself a favor and pick something else.
Level deserves its low rating for good reason. Regrettably, Level Locks sells below-average products. The support folks are actually nice, but they're powerless to help. Over the last couple years I've spent more than thirty hours troubleshooting and fixing my Level Bolt. I was assured the warranty covered it and traded eighteen emails with fifty-plus photos and videos. Then when they finally had to do the replacement, they suddenly claimed it wasn't under warranty and offered just a small twenty percent discount. Bottom line: skip it. Level's low rating is justified. It's shocking that the company leadership ignores the problems instead of fixing them.
Honestly this thing is terrible. My Level Connect stopped working after half a year. Their support team just keeps sending you around in circles instead of actually fixing anything. I'd never suggest it to anyone. Got rid of it completely.
Touch function only lasts three minutes maximum once you get within two hundred meters of home, then you have to use a physical key, keycard, or hope Siri cooperates so you can unlock without fumbling for keys. There's no way to extend that three minute window. You also can't add a digital key to your iPhone Wallet even after setting up HomeKit. Support responds okay, but that doesn't help when the core touch feature just doesn't function correctly and they can't solve it. I'm giving two stars purely because it does keep the door secure and looks nice.
The technicians performing the installation had no clue what they were doing. Installation took nearly two hours just for the lock and thermostat. The thermostat doesn't even function properly and keeps reverting to HEAT mode at eighty-four degrees. No instruction manual was provided, no app was given to us, and we have no way to regulate our home safely for our support animals without risking heat exhaustion. No way to reach corporate, product support is unavailable, and no system administrator contact info. They don't seem to care about disabled people or the animals that depend on them. Extremely unprofessional organization.
Terrible experience with their customer service! I placed an order for Level Lock Touch+ Connect back in early October and got sent Level Lock Touch instead. The return shows it arrived, but they won't process my refund. This was honestly the worst customer service I've ever dealt with.
Poor customer support and no guidance on returns. Bought the Level Lock plus a few weeks back. The unit doesn't perform like it's supposed to. Getting help from customer service is basically impossible, and they won't call me to discuss the issue. I've asked multiple times how to return it for a refund but get no response.
Level Prefers to Stall and Deflect Instead of Fixing Issues. I have a pair of Level Keypads. Installation was straightforward and programming codes was simple. But starting the second day, both keypads stopped working as they should. The keypads light up showing they're on, but neither one can actually lock or unlock the Level Bolt. I've reached out to Level about this three different times and they still haven't resolved it. At eighty bucks a piece plus all the frustration trying to get support for repairs or replacements, they're just not worth it.
