New York & Company Reviews
What Shoppers Say About New York & Company
New York & Company is rated 1.6 out of 5 by 17 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. The dominant complaints center on declining product quality, with reviewers describing clothing as unattractive, cheap-looking, and no longer meeting the standards the brand was once known for. Customer service emerges as a critical problem area, with shoppers reporting slow email-only support, lengthy refund delays (some extending many months past promised timeframes), unresolved issues with wrong sizes, and what reviewers characterize as dismissive or repetitive responses to complaints.
A small minority of shoppers rate the store more favorably, though even positive reviews come with reservations such as limited selection in specific categories like wide leg pants. Long-time customers express particular disappointment, noting that the transition to an online-only model has resulted in a dramatic departure from the brand's historical appeal and quality. The combination of reduced product appeal and frustrating customer service experiences has led reviewers to state they will not return to the retailer.

Sorted by: Most recentThis isn't the New York and Company I used to know. I haven't shopped with them in years because the styles on their website just don't appeal to me anymore. The clothing selection is unattractive. Unless they bring back the quality and style they used to have, I won't be buying from them again.
This place is terrible. Zero customer service to speak of, and they don't follow through on what they promise. Just awful all around.
This company is ridiculous. The quality of the clothing has become awful. Their customer service only works through email, and they just give you the runaround. I got sent the wrong size, and for over two months I kept emailing them. Their excuse was that their return label printer was broken. When I asked them to just refund me, they refused until I could return the item through their broken printer. I had to dispute it with my credit card to get my money back. I made the mistake of trying again, and this time I got two sweaters with manufacturing defects holes and dropped stitches. I sent photos, and they asked me to photograph the packaging to prove there was no shipping damage. The packaging is gone, and there was no damage to it anyway. The problems came from their cheap manufacturing. I'm filing another credit card dispute and I'm never shopping here again.
I purchased some items in December for holiday photos. The sizes didn't work out and I didn't like how things looked, so I returned my whole order in January. I got an email saying returns could take up to forty-one days to process. It's now October and I'm still waiting for my refund. They send me the same generic responses over and over, which just frustrates me more. I'm totally done. I will never shop with New York and Company again.
I've been a loyal VIP member for over twenty-five years. Their prices were always steep, but at least it was the place to go for work clothes. This online-only version is a disaster. The apparel looks like cheap discount rack stuff from decades ago. Even the pictures of models look exhausted and worn down.
Do yourself a favor and don't order from them. I received the wrong product and when I contacted customer service, it took weeks to hear back. When they finally responded, they told me I'd have to pay ten dollars just to ship back their mistake, and only then would they think about refunding me for the item I never got. The customer service here is absolutely terrible. They've ignored my emails and phone calls repeatedly, so there's no way I'm trusting them with my money again.
Don't order from this company. Your purchase won't arrive when it should, and customer service representatives won't answer your calls or emails. It's a fraudulent operation.
I ordered a sweater in early March and never got any tracking information for my order. Lucky for me I used PayPal, so I was able to get my money back. I tried contacting them through email and phone calls but got no response. This is completely unacceptable. I won't be ordering from them ever again.
I really miss the old New York & Company when they had physical locations everywhere. Back then, the clothing quality and selection were fantastic. Since switching to online only, everything has gone downhill. The quality feels cheap, sizing is all over the place, and the styles just aren't appealing anymore. I was lucky enough to have some older NY&CO pants to reference when ordering, so I could figure out what size might work. The pants I got actually fit, but not everyone has that advantage. What really frustrates me is that now almost everything on the site is marked as final sale with no returns allowed. That's a terrible business decision that's going to push customers away. Shopping online already comes with risks, and being stuck with ill-fitting clothes is a nightmare. I'm done shopping there. They really need to change this policy and only apply final sale to clearance items. Unless you're just buying jewelry or small accessories, I wouldn't recommend ordering from them. This store has lost me as a customer.
