What Shoppers Say About Chaco
Chaco is receiving overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 14 reviews averaging 1.2 out of 5. The primary complaints center on unresponsive customer service, with customers reporting rude interactions, refusal to accommodate returns outside narrow windows, and dismissive handling of legitimate issues. Additional recurring problems include product quality concerns (blisters from sandals), payment processing errors that resulted in duplicate charges, failure to replace stolen packages, wrong item fulfillment with denied refunds, and a warranty process that shoppers describe as ineffective and difficult to use.
Few positive aspects emerge from the available reviews. Shoppers indicate they have lost confidence in the brand and express strong intentions not to purchase again, citing better experiences with competitors who handle similar issues more gracefully. The combination of product defects, billing failures, and poor customer service creates a pattern of dissatisfaction that spans multiple transaction types and problem categories.

I'm never purchasing from this company again. I tried multiple times to complete an order because my card kept getting declined even though I had plenty of money and all my details were correct. The worst part is my card was charged for EVERY single attempt, even though the orders didn't go through. I ended up being charged for six pairs of sandals. Then customer service gaslighted me for days. When I called to explain what happened, they told me I didn't even know my own address and insisted the charges were definitely canceled and the money was never actually deducted. But it was, and my bank confirmed it happened and said they couldn't reverse it. After several emails back and forth over a week, I got a generic automated apology for the inconvenience and a 20 percent discount code. A few days later the money randomly showed back up in my account with absolutely no explanation or follow-up from anyone at the company. It feels like they were genuinely trying to scam people and just hoped nobody would notice.
I'd give them zero stars if I could. Their customer service is absolutely terrible. I asked to speak with a manager and she was incredibly rude to me. The issue was about sandals that were never worn outside of the 30-day return window. I had just been relocated for work with barely any notice and ordered multiple sizes since my feet had changed over time. She basically said she'd be furious if she bought shoes that sat in someone's house for several months, like that doesn't happen all the time in retail warehouses. These people are awful. Next time I need sandals I'm going with a different brand like Keens. Also, I have an older pair that I've barely worn and keep in good condition, but the rubber is cracking in multiple spots. I'm not even going to bother trying to use their so-called lifetime warranty because it'll obviously be a waste of time. They're total ripoff artists. I hope the company goes under soon.
They clearly don't care much about their customers. My package was stolen within a few hours of being dropped off, and when I told them what happened, they basically said to file a police report and that's it. Other companies have replaced my order without all this hassle. Won't be ordering from them again.
I placed an order for custom sandals on their website and received the wrong pair about a month later. When I reached out to their customer service team, they told me it was my mistake and denied me a refund or replacement. After pushing back multiple times, they finally said they'd refund me and remake the sandals to match my original specifications, but then stopped responding for several days. When they did get back to me, they blamed me again even though they went ahead with the refund anyway. I returned the incorrect sandals to their facility, and it took days for them to confirm they'd gotten them. Unfortunately, they refunded my money but never actually made the replacement pair as promised. The whole experience felt deliberately frustrating, with unclear messaging, no accountability, and a lot of unnecessary hoops to jump through. I also suspect there might be a glitch with their custom order form. I won't be ordering from them again after dealing with all this.
Their warranty is basically useless. My family and I have decided we're done buying Chaco sandals. Here's how it works if you have an issue like the sole coming loose from bad glue: you mail the shoes to them. Once they receive them, they examine everything and then decide whether they'll actually cover it under warranty, which is laughable because obviously we all know what that decision will be. If they don't cover it, you're looking at paying 50 bucks for them to fix the sole. And if you decide not to pay that repair fee, remember they already have your shoes, so they'll probably charge you more to ship them back. Honestly, for the amount I paid for these, I could buy three pairs of other sandals that would each last a couple years, giving me way more value for the same money. The math just doesn't work out. Why pay extra for sandals with basically no warranty when you could get cheaper options that you can replace every few years and actually come out ahead financially?
The way they advertise their LUVSEAT footbed is misleading. They make it sound like there's one version, but there are actually two completely different types. One actually supports your foot and feels great, like the one in their Revel slippers. The other one in the Chillos is basically worthless with almost no support or padding, even though most people want something comfy enough to wear all day. I wore mine a couple times and my feet started hurting, so I reached out. Customer service just shrugged and said the footbeds are different and it's not a defect. No apology, no offer to work something out, nothing. Just terrible support. After buying 9 or 10 pairs over the years, I don't plan on buying anymore.
I've gotten some other sandal styles from resellers before, so I figured I'd try their slipper shoes straight from the source. When I created an account, they sent me an email saying I'd earned free shipping with no strings attached. But when I went to purchase the shoes, the only ones in my size were clearance items that couldn't be returned. On top of that, they added a shipping charge that was nearly a fifth of the shoe price. I used their chat support and basically got told that's just how it is, but if I spent another 40 bucks I could get free shipping. With so many other brands out there, I'm not going to keep my money with a company that doesn't actually value their buyers. That sarcastic customer service attitude over 8 dollars lost them forever.
I've been buying from them for nearly two decades, picking up a new pair every year. This year I got their slides but the straps ran long. When I complained, they basically told me to just wrap a rubber band around them. Not a real solution. Then I ordered a different style and tracked the shipment. I asked for standard delivery to my workplace since there's always someone there, but the tracking said it was delivered when the FedEx driver never actually showed up. I called FedEx but couldn't reach a person, so I tried Chaco. They told me since I picked standard shipping, they can't do anything and FedEx has 72 business hours to figure it out on their own. No other options, no help from them. Basically, if your standard shipment doesn't arrive, you're stuck with nothing. There should be better real-time solutions for situations like this. I ended up having to leave for a trip without my sandals, which I wear constantly.
I placed my order at the end of June from the UK and still hadn't received anything by early August. The company has been no help whatsoever. To make matters worse, I can't even access my account anymore and the password reset emails aren't going through. If you're in the UK, you probably shouldn't order from these people.
