What Shoppers Say About SmoothieBox
SmoothieBox has received uniformly negative feedback from shoppers, with every review rating the service one star. The primary complaints center on aggressive billing practices, with multiple customers reporting unauthorized charges after canceling subscriptions, unexpected shipments to old addresses, and difficulty obtaining refunds. Shoppers consistently describe frustration with unresponsive customer service, noting that the company is hard to reach by phone or chat and slow to respond to cancellation requests. Some reviewers also mention that website reviews appear fabricated and that the review submission process itself is problematic.
While a few shoppers acknowledge the smoothies themselves as nutritious or describe the product quality as acceptable, this is vastly outweighed by concerns about business practices. Complaints include bland flavor, limited selection, and a lack of shipping notifications. Customers describe feeling deliberately trapped by the subscription model and express skepticism about the company's ethical operations. Multiple reviewers have warned others to avoid the service or consider competing alternatives.

Sorted by: Most recentJust frozen fruit chunks that taste pretty bland, honestly. What really got me was the sneaky automatic subscription they set up after my first order. When I tried to reach out about canceling, nobody would pick up the phone or respond through their chat. It feels like they're deliberately hard to get ahold of so people give up trying to stop the recurring charges. Total ripoff of my time and cash. Still waiting to hear back about how to actually cancel this thing.
Fair warning: do not sign up for their membership program. I stopped my membership back in April, but then randomly my credit card got charged and they shipped out an order I never requested. To make matters worse, I wasn't even living at that address anymore. Their response to the bad business practice? No credit, no replacement, just apologies. That's it. I reached out to my credit card company who basically told me there's nothing they can do since the transaction went through, whether I got the stuff or not.
Been using this for over a year and I'm warning people to stay away. Their website reviews are definitely fake because I tried leaving one myself and couldn't. Never needed customer service until recently, but wow was that an eye-opener. I had told them months back I was fed up and wanted to quit. The selection is terrible and everything tastes the same after a while. Plus it's really pricey. Apparently they treated my cancellation request like it was optional. When another box showed up unexpectedly, I called right away. The rep said there was nothing she could do since the one person handling cancellations was out on medical leave. She even said if I sent it back they'd keep my money anyway. I demanded to speak with someone in charge. The next day I got an email basically saying tough luck, we're keeping your money and too bad about the box you don't want. They clearly don't care about customers at all. Wish I'd known better before ever ordering a single box. Makes me sick that the one time I actually needed them to help, they did zero and didn't even try to make it right.
Disappointing experience overall. They delivered the wrong stuff and their customer service team was unhelpful. Check out DailyHarvest if you want something better.
These people operate unethically. I canceled my subscription directly on their website, but a month later a shipment showed up anyway. I refused to accept it and the delivery driver brought it back. When I called to let them know I'd already canceled a month prior, they denied it and refused to give me a refund. That's when I told them to shut down my account for good. Later I checked and they still had my credit card saved in the system with no option to delete it myself, so I had to call back and force them to remove it. Their practices are shady and the products aren't even that good to begin with. Be cautious if you're thinking about doing business with them.
They're nutritious smoothies but you're paying a lot for them. My main complaint is they didn't give me any heads up before shipping my next batch. It arrived three days sooner than I calculated it would, with zero notification beforehand. I checked my spam folder multiple times and nothing was there. The only email I got was sent after 1 a.m. saying the shipment was out for delivery. I called at 5 a.m. to explain I'd be out of town and wasn't expecting them for a few more days, so I couldn't pick them up. They said it was already in transit and too bad. My neighbors were traveling too, so over a hundred and twenty bucks worth of smoothies went bad sitting on my porch. When I asked if they'd at least give me a discount to replace the ruined batch, they refused. Even my credit card company couldn't help because Smoothie Box claimed they'd sent a warning with four days notice, which is a straight up lie. That's the only email from them I never got in the past decade.
