What Shoppers Say About Duncraft
Duncraft is rated 2.2 out of 5 by 12 shoppers, with ratings heavily polarized between one and five stars. Shoppers who had positive experiences praise the company's customer service, noting that representatives are knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient at handling requests like cancellations and order changes. However, the majority of reviewers report significant quality and value concerns. Common complaints include premium pricing for feeders made by cheaper brands (like Bird's Choice) or sourced from overseas manufacturers, defective products such as hummingbird feeders with paint coatings that flake off (posing a potential hazard to birds), oversized mesh on nyger feeders that allow seed to fall through, and poorly designed products with functional flaws. Customers also report difficulty reaching customer service for returns and refunds, with some experiencing unresponsiveness or being redirected to manufacturers instead of receiving support from Duncraft.
The disconnect between price and product quality appears to be a primary frustration, with reviewers noting they paid significantly more than comparable items cost elsewhere, only to receive products with manufacturing defects or inadequate performance. While customer service receives praise from some shoppers, others have struggled to access support when problems arise, creating an inconsistent experience.

Sorted by: Most recentGot three bird feeders and paid $455 with shipping included. When I opened the box, I realized they were made by Bird's Choice, a brand that makes mediocre feeders but charges way less for them. Can't seem to reach anyone at Duncraft to handle the return and get my money back.
Bought two red glass hummingbird feeders and after just a week of use, I noticed red paint flaking and peeling off the glass. This isn't actually red glass at all, it's clear glass with a cheap paint coating on top. This is risky because the paint chips can fall into the sugar water that the hummingbirds drink. Duncraft shouldn't be selling feeders like this.
Picked up two metal nyger feeders and ran into problems right away. The wire mesh is way too large, so seed just falls right through within a couple days. I reached out to customer service via email about it, and they basically told me to contact the maker instead. The manufacturer looks like they're just importing these from overseas. Would definitely recommend steering clear of Duncraft.
Had a great experience with customer service when I called about my bird feeder. They were really helpful and knew what they were talking about. Duncraft definitely backs up what they sell. Appreciated the support!
Excellent customer service experience here. I placed an order for a plastic bird bath bowl replacement, then realized the same day that I'd picked the wrong size. Called them up and got a real person on the line who was friendly and knowledgeable. He cancelled my order in under a minute without any hassle. In today's world, this kind of quick and professional help is pretty rare. Really appreciated it!
Spent $129 on what I thought was a quality metal feeder with a protective cage for keeping bigger birds away. Turned out the design is flawed because large birds can still reach right in through the feeding ports. Really frustrated with this expensive purchase and the poor planning that went into it. For anyone serious about backyard birding, I'd suggest looking closely at how these feeders actually work before buying. Don't make the same hundred-plus dollar mistake I did. I've already loaded it with seed so I'm not bothering to return it, but Duncraft won't be getting any more of my money. It seems like you're paying for the name rather than getting a product that actually performs.
Ordered the Squirrel X1 feeder and returned it the day after it showed up. The build quality is just not there, feels cheap and poorly constructed, and the price doesn't match what you get. The little perches feel flimsy and the top lid where you fill the seed is incredibly stiff to open. Anyone dealing with arthritis would have trouble with it. I also ordered another feeder that won't be available until late July, but they charged my card right away even though I was told I wouldn't be billed until it shipped. I've decided to cancel that order too. Based on what I got with this one, I won't be coming back to this company.
Very let down overall. I bought a seed catcher to go under my bird feeders in my planter where I'm growing flowers. I added extra stuff to qualify for free shipping. Placed my order on the 22nd but when I called on the 31st to check status, they said they just shipped it that day. I questioned the delay and was told they're a small operation that doesn't work weekends. That's an eight day wait just on weekdays! I had asked about free shipping specifically because I didn't want to pay for faster delivery, but now I'm upset about the long turnaround. My flowers and new bulbs are already sprouting and I can't tell which is what anymore. It's April 2nd and still waiting, plus there's a holiday coming up so I'll be waiting even longer. The service was really disappointing. I was also thinking of ordering a pricey bird house but definitely won't now.
Purchased a pair of mealworm feeders from Duncraft that were advertised as bluebird specific with a design meant to keep larger birds out. Unfortunately, starlings got into both of them within hours of me hanging them. I kept the smaller one for use during summer months when starlings aren't active, but returning the bigger feeder set me back $37. It's also frustrating that Duncraft doesn't let you rate items directly on their site. I won't be ordering from them again.
My spouse bought me a feeder from Duncraft that turned out to be pretty cheaply made. We wanted to send it back, but the company wouldn't provide a prepaid shipping label. That meant we had to pay $11 ourselves just to return their subpar product, which ended up being more than a third of what we paid for it in the first place. If you're okay with receiving low quality items, paying extra out of pocket to return them, and dealing with unhelpful customer service, then go ahead and order. Otherwise, I'd shop elsewhere.
