Bergdorf Goodman Reviews
Bergdorf Goodman receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 22 reviews averaging 2.1 out of 5. The most common complaints center on order fulfillment problems, including items shipped to wrong addresses without explanation, packages left unprotected on doorsteps, and extended delays in delivery with unresponsive customer service. Shoppers also report concerns about product authenticity, particularly with fragrances and high-end goods, and unexpected charges for returns processed without customer authorization. A small portion of five-star reviews suggest that when the company identifies issues, they may attempt to make things right by offering replacements or refunds, though these positive resolutions appear inconsistent.
The store's luxury positioning and brand selection are not reflected in operational execution based on shopper reports. Customers express frustration with the disconnect between the upscale retail experience expected at this price point and the actual service delivery. Issues range from inadequate shipping practices that leave expensive items vulnerable to theft, to unresolved delivery timeframes and difficulty reaching customer service representatives. The pattern of complaints suggests systemic problems rather than isolated incidents, with multiple shoppers reporting similar experiences across different product categories and order types.
Would give negative stars if possible. This place is ripping off customers. I ordered some Loeffler Randall shoes online because they didn't have my size at the brand's own store. The shoes were too small, so I sent them back and ordered the right size directly from the brand. BG shipped my original size back with zero explanation. When I called, they gave me the same excuse about their warehouse saying the shoes had been worn and no refund. I never wore them outside my house while testing the fit. I even mentioned I'd left a glowing review on the brand's site saying how amazing the shoes were and that I needed to size up, but they couldn't care less. UPDATED: BG finally responded to my Better Business Bureau complaint. At first they still refused the refund, claiming the shoes were worn. When I sent them side by side photos clearly showing the size 6 shoes were unworn while the size 6.5 had been worn, they finally caved and approved the refund. It's frustrating that I had to jump through all these hoops and complain to the BBB just to get what's right. Clearly their default is to deny everything and hope customers give up.
Ordered some Saint Laurent boots that were left on my front porch by FedEx without requiring a signature. Unfortunately, the package was stolen from my doorstep, and I have security camera footage showing exactly what happened. I contacted their customer service with the video evidence and filed a police report. The representative I spoke with apologized and said they'd open an incident claim with a refund coming my way, plus someone would follow up with me. Never heard back from them. After waiting a few weeks, I called again and found out my claim was rejected. Their reason? The carrier marked it as delivered, so apparently that means it's not their problem even though it was clearly taken from my property. I won't be ordering from them again under any circumstances.
Got a partial product in my order UPDATE: 10/26/2025 After the company saw my review, they reached out and made things right. I thought maybe I'd get a discount code, but they went above and beyond. They sent me a full-size Clean Reveal Face Wash for free with complimentary shipping, which retails for $65. This small black and woman-owned business showed me what real customer service looks like, something a massive corporation like Bergdorf Goodman refused to do. The level of care I received was unlike anything I've experienced before. If they stay in business, they've got my loyalty forever. 10/7/2025 I ordered some skincare products including a face wash and a toning formula. The toning formula arrived with the seal already broken and the face wash bottle was substantially less full than it should have been. Looking at photos on their site and the brand's site, both products should be completely filled. Compared to what I got, mine was nowhere near the right amount. I contacted customer service to see if they could fix it.
Purchased what appears to be a counterfeit bottle of fragrance from their website back in May during a sale event. I didn't open it right away since I already had one in use. When I finally opened it three months later, I immediately knew something was off. I've been loyal to this scent for over three years and have bought at least ten bottles, so I know the real deal. This one was wrong from the start, the scent was different, the construction was off, and there was no batch number included. I put together twelve comparison photos against my other authentic bottles. Bergdorf Goodman is supposed to be one of just two authorized U.S. retailers for this brand, but they completely ignored two emails from me and refused to help when I called, saying it was past their 30 day return window. They didn't even acknowledge the possibility that they sold me a fake. So I reached out to the brand's customer service. I made it clear I wasn't asking for money back or a replacement, I just wanted them to know one of their trusted retailers might have let a counterfeit product into circulation. I asked for them to look into it or at least acknowledge the concern.
Would give zero stars if possible. Went into the store on impulse and bought some cosmetics. The sales associate said they could ship it to my place in Florida with no issues. That was two weeks ago and I still don't have it. I've called several times and keep getting told someone will contact me soon. Yet they had no trouble charging my credit card right away. This is not the Bergdorf experience I used to enjoy.
Absolutely terrible service! They charged my PayPal account for a return without even asking me first. Unacceptable! I will never buy from them again and I'm telling everyone I know to avoid them.
I'd give them way less than one star if I could. Over the years I've bought from them and usually returns weren't a problem, but this last experience was terrible. I purchased a Chloe blouse on June 5th. After I got it and tried it on, it just wasn't right for me, so I mailed it back using UPS on June 22nd since it was an online order. I honestly forgot about it until the blouse showed up back at my door on July 31st. I contacted customer service and they said they wouldn't accept the return because the blouse showed signs of being worn. I pushed back hard on this because I've never actually worn it and the tags are still attached. I asked why nobody from the company bothered to reach out about the supposed problem, and the supervisor answered me in a really unprofessional tone saying he didn't know why no one contacted me but it didn't matter anyway because their return department's decision was final. Just so you know, if you spend money at Bergdorf Goodman online, their sales team might make false claims that you wore something even if you return it unworn with tags still on within their 30 day window. I'm going back to buying straight from the brand going forward.
Their exchange and return department is a nightmare. I bought a $1500 dress and sent it back right away because the size wasn't right. The store received my return on June 26th, but as of July 22nd they still hadn't processed anything or told customer service about a refund. When I asked, customer service said this happens pretty regularly. I've filed a complaint with the BBB at this point.
Terrible customer service experience. I got a $1500 Chloe bag but the color wasn't for me, so I wanted to exchange it for a different shade. I started a return online, got a shipping label, and dropped the package off at FedEx myself. I even have a receipt showing the drop-off. Neither FedEx nor Bergdorf can locate the package or track it. When I call them about filing a claim, they say I still have it, which makes no sense since I physically handed it to FedEx with proof. They refuse to help and just keep telling me to call FedEx, while FedEx tells me to call them. These people are the absolute worst. The reps I've dealt with are equally bad. This never happens with Neiman Marcus or Saks. I'm never buying from them again.
I got a product that was completely broken. When I reached out, they showed zero interest in helping me out. The attitude was awful and it was clear they couldn't care less about my complaint. A really disappointing experience overall.
Watch out for their misleading advertising. I picked up an expensive dress on sale from their website. It was way off in terms of sizing. When I called for a return shipping label, the person on the phone was really rude and dismissive. They didn't apologize for the inconvenience or seem to believe me at all. In all my years shopping online, I've never experienced anything like this. I won't be going back. On top of that, when I told them I was finished with their store, suddenly they claimed the item was final sale. I would never have purchased anything sight unseen from a designer I've never worn, especially if it was marked final sale. I saved my order confirmation and delivery paperwork to show it wasn't actually final sale.
Think twice before ordering online from this place. I got a Moncler coat that turned out to be way too big. I sent it right back since it was a significant purchase. They took over a month to process the return and I still haven't gotten my money. I called three different times with nothing to show for it. Finally they told me to dispute it with my credit card company. Even worse, they deleted all my tracking information right away. Bergdorf is basically stealing from online shoppers. This is shocking and I'm extremely upset.
They don't tell you upfront when something is backordered. I could've bought this birthday present anywhere, but I trusted them. Now my order will arrive 15 days after I placed it, a full week later than the timeline shown when I bought it. I tried chatting with them and they said delivery would be 11/25, then changed it to 11/29 because it's backordered, which was never mentioned on the site when I checked out. I wanted to cancel but they won't let me. This is not the kind of luxury service you'd expect from a luxury store. I won't shop here again.
I've worked with Michael Hurtado before and I keep coming back because of his outstanding kindness and sales expertise. We really value quality in everything we buy, including grooming products. Anyone can claim that, but Mike actually understands his customers and what they need. He's great to work with and I'm going to keep shopping with him. Best wishes, Jim Zakos.
I bought a wooden toy box for over $62 and by the time I reached out about an issue, I was past the 30 day window. They told me to contact the manufacturer instead. The toy was defective right out of the box. When I explained this to the customer service rep, they just said it's policy and refused to help. No refund, no replacement. I'm really frustrated with how this company operates.
