Atrocious customer service

Worst customer service from any airline I've ever flown on. Human robots answering questions robotically, no empathy, sympathy or even trying to help. Just "computer says no" all the time. Cancelled flight, unable to rebook, unable to book multicity flights shown on website (unless you buy singles, and then the price doubles), failure to honour free hotel promotion despite doing what they told me to, customer service atrocious. Clueless.

No room for mistakes

I had to return to Australia urgently and change my ticket. I went on the website, paid a large change fee and then, in my distressed state, I made a mistake with the booking. I immediately phoned and spoke to an agent. He said I had to pay a second change fee to rebook again, despite me explaining it was an honest mistake. So the two changes within 10 minutes of each other ended up costing more than my original ticket. I was told there was no way to raise this issue with the company because I had already paid. I think it is wrong not to be able to correct a mistake within 5 minutes of making it and be told there is absolutely no recourse.

Baggage delay and extreme poor service

Our luggage was not transported from Abu Dhabi to Denpasar on our flight on 9/10 October 2025 (EY125) due to Etihad’s operational failure. Because of chaotic and contradictory information from staff, we only recovered our two backpacks on 15 October 2025.Etihad and the airport repeatedly shifted responsibility instead of resolving the issue, causing significant stress. Compensation handling was equally disappointing: of IDR 3,701,000 in necessary expenses, Etihad offered to reimburse only IDR 2,745,000, or alternatively pushed a travel voucher, forcing future use of their airline.Even attempting to accept the partial reimbursement was impossible due to persistent technical errors on Etihad’s website.The onboard experience was also substandard older aircraft on Asian routes, malfunctioning entertainment systems, and inconsistent meal service.Overall, a highly unprofessional airline with poor accountability. I strongly advise against flying with Etihad.

Alcohol served next to Muslims

On our recent Etihad flight a female passenger sitting directly beside my wife was served alcohol. As Muslims this felt extremely disrespectful – especially coming from a UAE-based airline that represents Islamic values.I calmly informed the crew that serving alcohol right next to visibly Muslim passengers was inappropriate. The response was cold and indifferent. Later, a stewardess returned and vaguely mentioned the captain was “sorry,” but nothing changed.We chose Etihad expecting cultural awareness and basic respect. Sadly what we experienced was commercial prioritization over faith. I hope Etihad reflects on how situations like these affect your loyal Muslim customers.I urge Muslims to boycott this Airline.

Complaint Regarding Extremely Poor In‑Flight Experience – Manchester to Islamabad (24th December

Dear Etihad Airways Customer Relations Team,I am writing to raise a serious complaint regarding my recent flight with Etihad Airways on 24th December, departing Manchester at 08:25am and landing in Islamabad at 3:10am. This was my first time travelling with Etihad, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and far below the standard I expected—especially considering the fare of £1,128.00.I was travelling last minute due to a family emergency, as my mother is unwell, and I had hoped for a smooth and supportive journey. Instead, the in‑flight service was unacceptable. During the meal service, I was informed that no biryani was left, and I was given mash instead. This was not only unexpected but also very poor service for a long‑haul international flight. The overall attitude and service from the crew were not up to the standard of a premium airline, and the experience left me extremely dissatisfied.Given the amount I paid for this ticket, I did not expect such a lack of care, professionalism, and basic service quality. This experience has left a very negative impression, and based on this flight alone, I would not choose to travel with Etihad Airways again.I request that this complaint be taken seriously and investigated thoroughly. Etihad hotel stopover scam?

Etihad hotel stopover scam? Add in Non-Existent Customer SupportI am beyond disappointed with my recent experience with Etihad Airways. They are currently engaging in what could be described as false advertising regarding their stopover and complimentary hotel accommodation. Despite the website clearly stating this service was included if I booked a flight, it was denied leaving me stranded with a long stopover. Etihad Airways website contradicts Etihad Airways staffThe Etihad Airways UK website is a mess with the stopover appearing and disappearing each day I was making my booking. The Etihad Airways website allowed stopovers but no hotel offered on day 1 of trying to book the offer, no stopovers or hotels on day 2 and stopovers at additional cost and choice of hotels on day 3. I phoned customer support and they said no hotels were available on my stopover dates due to ‘blackout days’ despite the website showing hotels available during the calls and booking process.The "service" after this discovery was even worse:Gatekeeping Contact Info: They purposefully remove their telephone numbers from their website. I had to navigate through social media bots just to find a way to speak to a human.Failed Promises: After finally arranging a callback with a manager to rectify their booking error, the call never came.Uncaring customer service attitude: Instead of taking responsibility for their mistake, the staff was dismissive and unhelpful. Every interaction felt like an uphill battle.Etihad used to be a premium carrier, but they are now failing at the most basic levels of ethics, honesty and customer care. Save yourself the headache and book with another airline.

Fly with Qatar Airways instead

I usually fly with Qatar Airways, but this time I tried Etihad because the price was slightly lower. That turned out to be a huge mistake.The food was terrible, the cabin crew didn’t seem to care about the passengers, and the legroom was so poor that I had to pay extra just to be able to move comfortably and the flight was delayed over 2hrs. Overall, the experience was very disappointing.I’ll definitely be sticking with Qatar Airways from now on - they are far better in every way.

Horrible, racist staff - my humble warning to POCs

If you are a person of colour, please don't take this airline. I've travelled the world via multiple airlines, but I had the worst experience with Etihad. Initially I had planned to let it go, but the racism is bothering me way too much, and so this is my outlet after almost 6 months. Just as I entered the plane, the airhostess made a snarky, prejudiced comment about people from the Southern Asian peninsula. Thanks to her, my 11-year-old brother experienced racism for the first time. When they were serving meals, my dad made a polite request, which could not be accommodated. I understand that, and that in itself was not an issue. After the whole conversation, another airhostess came to him and yelled at him. Yes, yelled at my 50-year-old father to the point that he was cowering. I was stuck on that horrible plane for hours. If you are brown or black, or just simply aren't racist, do yourself a favour and take Qatar Airlines.

Zeros stars

Zeros stars for a theif of a company. They double booked my kid’s seat so we had to forfeit it and hold the child on our lap for 4 flights, we paid $1000 for his ticket and apparently couldn’t use it because the system didn’t pick up that he has his own seat. I check him in under his own booking. Called customer service to rectify the situation but they were absolutely useless and wasted my time. We found some email address to ask for a refund, we were referred back to their website which is designed to crash out. I genuinely believe this company to be in the business for quick cash, designing a system that makes it very difficult to access quality and helpful customer service.
