Hedley & Bennett Reviews
Hedley & Bennett is rated 1.1 out of 5 by 13 shoppers, with the overwhelming majority leaving one-star reviews. The primary complaint across nearly all reviews centers on severe order fulfillment failures: customers report items showing as in stock but never arriving, weeks of delayed shipments with tracking numbers that show no carrier pickup, and unresponsive customer service via email with no phone support option. Multiple reviewers described orders placed in late November that remained unshipped into mid-December, missing holiday gift deadlines. The company has allegedly offered replacements or refunds but failed to follow through on those commitments.
Beyond shipping issues, one reviewer noted a product quality concern with pot holders that were dangerously thick and caused one to catch fire when it contacted a stove heating element. While some customers indicated they appreciate the apron designs and have owned Hedley & Bennett products before, the current fulfillment and customer service problems have left them unable to recommend the company. The consistent pattern of these issues across multiple independent reviews suggests systemic operational problems rather than isolated incidents.
Ordered something that showed as in stock and got a shipping notification, but the product never arrived. This was supposed to be a Christmas gift. Customer service said they'd send it, then they didn't. When I followed up, they claimed it was out of stock and asked what I wanted instead. This went back and forth for weeks. After multiple conversations with their support team, I haven't gotten anything or my money back, just broken promises.
I'd give them zero stars if I could. I should have read reviews before ordering. My experience matched what others reported: they told me my order got lost and offered a replacement or refund. It's been weeks and I haven't heard anything else about either option.
Ordered an apron on December 1st and my card got charged immediately with a tracking number created. Sixteen days later, it still hasn't gone to the carrier and this company won't answer my emails. They don't have a phone line, just email support that never replies. I really liked their aprons and wanted to surprise my son for Christmas, but I can't now. Bottom line: their customer service is terrible. I'm buying a different brand for my son instead.
Ordered an apron near the end of November as a Christmas present. Their site promised shipment in 2-3 days plus 5-6 days for standard delivery. It's mid-December and I still don't have it. The order status says pre-transit on their website. They gave me a tracking number that doesn't work because the carrier never actually got the package. I've emailed customer service twice and gotten zero replies. I'm furious because I needed this for a Christmas gathering and now have to scramble to find something else. Can't even cancel my order.
If you're in Canada thinking about ordering here, don't. I placed an order in late November and it still hasn't shipped nearly three weeks later. Zero responses to my customer service emails. The apron cost almost $175 even with their 25% discount. I'd cancel the whole order and ask for my money back if I could.
I like their aprons and own a few, so I ordered their pot holders to qualify for free shipping. They looked decent until I actually used them. The tip touched a heating element on my stove and caught fire. I had to blow it out. Plus they're super thick at the ends, making it nearly impossible to grab pans or dishes. I sent them photos and feedback but they didn't care at all. They responded that their stuff is heat resistant, not fireproof. That's not acceptable when something goes up in flames like that. They also wouldn't display my review on their site. I can't recommend these.
The apron itself looks like quality material, but I paid an extra $20 for embroidery and that's where it went downhill. The customization tool wouldn't let me center my design properly. When it arrived, the embroidery was totally off to one side and looks awful. I reached out and they told me their FAQ mentions that all embroidery sits off to the right. Apparently they can't center embroidery in the middle correctly. Their response was basically sorry you don't like it. That's ridiculous. Who reads the FAQ when buying an apron? I expected professional work. Terrible customer service and terrible quality for a $140 purchase. The whole thing was supposed to be a gift but I'm too embarrassed to give it. What a waste.
Couldn't set up an account because I kept getting errors. This site is a total scam. I had something in my cart right at noon and then the site locked up, naturally meaning it sold out. Scam! Never heard of them before and definitely won't be ordering from them.
Never received my items. The tracking info they sent was bogus. Three weeks later when I checked in, they emailed a fake delivery confirmation backdated to shortly after my order. Then they tried to make me doubt what actually happened. PayPal wouldn't help because the company had their phony documentation. While some customers do get their products, it seems like they intentionally skip fulfilling some orders, banking on people either not noticing or not bothering to dispute it. Steer clear to avoid being one of the ones that gets burned.
Don't buy from this place. I ordered an apron for over $100 and it never showed up. The postal service claimed delivery without any proof. When I contacted their support team, I got absolutely nothing back. I checked online and found tons of complaints from other disappointed customers. Their physical location even shut down because of all the negative feedback. I'm disputing the charge with my bank since this company won't take any responsibility.
Avoid this company. Their customer service basically doesn't exist. Email is your only option and you're just hoping they'll respond. When they do answer, it's generic and they never actually acknowledge your problem. My son bought an essential apron as a gift for about $77. I decided to exchange it for a fancier floral apron that cost around $136, so I charged the $59 difference to my card. The fancier apron showed up and was nowhere near worth that price. It was thin, rough textured, and the color didn't match the pictures. I wanted to swap it for another apron around $106. When I emailed about returning the pricey one, they said I'd only get credited for the $59 I personally paid, not the $77 my son originally paid. They're calling the $77 a discount and basically keeping it because I only paid $59 of my own money toward the expensive apron. So I returned a $77 apron and they won't credit that return. They want me to pay $47 for a third apron when I already sent back one worth $77.
Do not order from here. You won't get what you paid for and they won't answer you. I have no idea why they have so much support from major brands. Don't expect to be taken seriously as a customer.
Not only did the wrong apron show up with the wrong personalization, but I've been waiting two weeks for someone to respond. They totally ruined Christmas. I've stopped payment and honestly don't get how top restaurants work with these people. Maybe if you're a celebrity they take you seriously, but regular customers don't get that treatment. I get that it's a busy holiday season, but when you're selling gift items, you have an obligation to actually help your customers.
