What Shoppers Say About AeroGarden
AeroGarden is rated 1.2 out of 5 by 17 shoppers, with the vast majority of reviews expressing serious dissatisfaction. The most common complaint involves seed pod failure, with multiple shoppers reporting that only a small fraction of pods germinate or that pods arrive empty of seeds entirely. Additional frustrations include unresponsive customer service (long wait times, disconnections, and difficulty reaching representatives), restrictive refund policies that deny reimbursement after 30 days despite products not functioning as intended, and a recent system update that allegedly wiped out customer accounts without warning.
A small number of reviewers rate the product higher, though positive feedback is minimal in the available reviews. Long-time customers note a decline in product quality compared to earlier purchases. The combination of non-functioning seed pods, poor customer support, and limited recourse for defective purchases has led shoppers to describe the company and its product line as feeling like a scam. Shoppers consistently report spending significant time troubleshooting without resolution.

Sorted by: Most recentBought this in December and after six weeks only 2 of 6 pods had germinated. Let them know about it. They'll only give credits toward more pods, no refund on the unit once you're past 30 days. That's unethical since it takes longer than that to figure out if the thing actually works. Bought another 6 pods, same issue, only 2 worked. Spent hours checking the pump, water pH, and lighting. Nothing helped. A ton of work for barely anything growing and I wanted my money back. Instead got automated responses telling me to keep buying pods and try again. This doesn't work like advertised and their return policy is garbage with zero real customer support.
Got the Harvest Elite Slim as a gift. Only one out of six pods actually sprouted. Called customer service and they said refunds need a receipt, which I didn't have. I didn't want money back anyway, just working seed pods. Waited forever on a chat then got disconnected. The whole AeroGarden product line feels like a scam.
AeroGarden's latest system update wiped out customer accounts, making it impossible to log back in and see your history or reconfigure your devices. Some genius at corporate thought this was a great plan without bothering to ask customers first. Took 4 calls just to get information and they hung up on me twice because they couldn't figure out what I was saying. Their support team clearly needs better training. This company is no longer customer focused and honestly just cares about profit. They've completely lost my loyalty.
I've purchased 5 different pod sets and maybe get one or two plants growing from each batch. The first sets I bought years ago worked fine, but now it seems like there are no actual seeds in the pods at all. How am I supposed to reach someone at customer service about this?
Received an aerogarden as a gift that had a couple of minor issues I thought would be simple to fix. The customer service they provided was terrible across multiple emails. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.
Ordered a nine pod grow system and nothing sprouted. Realized the seeds weren't even included in the package. Went back to order just the seed pods and somehow got the same empty sponges again. Reached out to customer service asking where to get actual seeds and was told they don't sell them separately, suggesting I find them elsewhere. That's a terrible way to run a business. Really let down by AeroGarden.
Your customer service is really disappointing. You can't even call anyone anymore, and when you try to chat they just send you somewhere to sign up with way too much information required. Out of 6 pots, only 2 are actually growing. Going back to Amazon in the future. Very upset about this and plan to tell others about my experience.
Purchased a 45 watt flat panel grow light from aerogarden back in 2021. Broke the power adapter cord and reached out asking to buy just that part. They won't sell it separately. These folks clearly don't have good English speakers handling support. Customer service deserves a zero rating from me.
My daughter in Chicago sent me an aerogarden through Amazon. I'm in Virginia and when I opened the sealed box it was missing the power cord adapter, so the whole thing is useless. Called AeroGarden support but they only take chat or email, no phone calls. The chat rep just told me to contact Amazon about it. That's not helpful since I'd have to send it back to my daughter in Chicago and she'd have to deal with their mistake. I'm done with AeroGarden and won't be recommending them. This experience made me really appreciate companies with real customer support.
I was really pumped when I got my aerogarden. It was pricey and I thought growing my own vegetables would save money. That didn't happen at all. Out of the first 6 pods, only 2 sprouted. The next batch gave me just 1 that grew, and it got moldy before getting very big. Spent over 200 dollars total between the unit, pods, and nutrients and barely got two handfuls of lettuce out of it. Still waiting weeks for replacement pods. Should've checked reviews first. Complete rip off and I'm really frustrated.
