A buddy of mine had just upgraded his home security setup with an Arlo doorbell and Essential spotlight camera as part of it. Since he had extras, I decided to give them a shot at my apartment. The doorbell turned out to be excellent and straightforward to reset and configure. Now the camera, that was another story at first. It refused to connect to my WiFi network no matter what I tried. Turns out the issue was user error on my end. I hadn't done a proper factory reset on the camera before attempting to set it up. The instruction manual's wording confused me since it mentions waiting for a blue light, but then talks about seeing an orange light flash three times. What actually happens is the orange light comes first. When I figured that out, everything clicked into place. I'm genuinely impressed with both products. At 82 years old, I managed to install these myself without any professional help, so they're definitely user-friendly.
