What Shoppers Say About Atlantis Paradise Island
Atlantis Paradise Island divides shoppers sharply, with ratings spread evenly across the spectrum. Guests who enjoyed their stays praise the resort's impressive amenities, infrastructure, and friendly staff, highlighting experiences where team members went above and beyond for celebrations and special occasions. However, dissatisfied visitors report serious maintenance issues including peeling paint, stained carpeting, broken elevators, and grimy furniture throughout rooms and common areas. Multiple reviewers also cite unexpected charges at check-in, limited menu availability, and concerns about security (including missing personal items from rooms), leading some to question whether the resort delivers on its premium pricing and five-star reputation.
The resort's inconsistency appears to be a central theme, with some guests receiving excellent personalized service while others encounter inadequate maintenance, billing disputes, and operational shortcomings. Safety concerns and the gap between premium pricing and actual quality delivered represent the most significant complaints, whereas those recommending the property do so primarily for its impressive overall design and occasional standout service moments.

Sorted by: Most recentMost overpriced and neglected getaway I've ever experienced. I have pictures showing a bathtub with peeling paint, stained hallway carpeting, broken elevator panels, busted and grimy furniture throughout the rooms and pool zones. Some spots with visible damage that could actually be hazardous. On top of that, you're nickel and dimed for everything while getting mediocre food, drinks and customer service. I won't be returning.
Absolutely terrible experience!!! Two of my designer bags including their protective covers went missing from my room at the Cove section of the resort, which is supposed to be their premium five star accommodation. I always use dust bags for my bags after use and store them in my suitcase in the room, and since the bags were too large for the safe I only put my jewelry and watch there. I'm completely certain housekeeping took those bags, especially since both dust bags disappeared as well. I reported this to security and filed a formal complaint about this serious theft, but after over a week they haven't given me any real answers about their investigation. Do not stay here if you're concerned about the safety of your belongings!
We reserved and paid for our room through a booking site for three adults and a teenager. At check-in, the hotel demanded additional money because they said the fifteen year old didn't count as a child but as a junior guest. There wasn't a junior option on either the booking site or Atlantis's own website. Then the hotel told us they can't be held responsible for how their booking partners list guest categories. Pretty unprofessional if you ask me. We eventually got past it and ended up having a decent time.
We had the pleasure of being welcomed by an amazing staff member at the Coral section who really went the extra mile giving us tons of helpful info since we were celebrating a couple of birthdays. Our rooms came with lovely gift baskets as a special touch.
What a spectacular destination! You can tell so much thought, planning and investment went into building Atlantis. The amenities and infrastructure are truly impressive and the people working there are genuinely friendly and hospitable. They've also got an outstanding business center and event space plus dining options that are top notch. Just bring comfortable shoes because there's a lot of ground to cover!
This place doesn't live up to its five star reputation at all. The service was disappointing and you're paying premium prices but getting third rate quality in return. If you want actual luxury accommodations, I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Most menu items weren't even available when we tried to order, the rooms looked tired and worn down, the carpet looked like it hadn't been properly cleaned in ages, the elevators kept breaking down, and good luck getting decent food unless you reserved a restaurant table months ahead of time.
During our Bahamas trip, visiting the Atlantis location was definitely a highlight. The day pass for adults at $190 felt steep at first, since we were hoping for tons of water attractions and animals to see. Turns out there aren't as many rides as you'd think, and a few were closed when we were there. The ones that were open were pretty fun though. On the animal side, they have ponds loaded with stingrays, turtles, fish and sharks. The aquarium area was really something special, though the tunnel under the shark tank was grimy, pretty short and didn't have as many fish as I expected. The place has several pools and beaches that looked clean and had plenty of loungers. You can rent lockers but they charge for them, which cost us twenty three bucks for a medium one that barely fit a small bag and beach gear. I might go back sometime, just not at these prices.
