Bogs Footwear Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Bogs Footwear
Bogs Footwear has a divided customer base. A small group of loyal shoppers praise the boots for warmth, comfort, traction, and practical design features, with some customers reporting years of satisfaction. However, the majority of recent reviews express serious concerns about quality decline, defective products arriving with wrong sizes, inconsistent insulation performance despite temperature claims, and problematic customer service. Long-term customers report that recent warranty reductions (from lifetime to one year) and visible quality issues such as seams splitting and neoprene separation are major frustrations. Several reviewers mention difficulty with warranty claims and unresponsive customer support.
Shoppers consistently cite manufacturing defects appearing after minimal wear, temperature performance that does not match advertising claims, and customer service that has become less helpful when issues arise. A subset of dissatisfied customers report escalating complaints to consumer protection agencies. While some buyers remain satisfied with their purchases, the overall pattern suggests reliability and support issues that have emerged in recent product batches.

Sorted by: Most recentOrdered discounted farm boots and when they showed up the box said size 9.5 like I ordered but inside was a size 8.5. Since it was on sale they're asking me to cover the $5 shipping to get the right size. That's the last time I'm buying from them. I ordered the correct size, they sent the wrong one!
Stay away from this company. They completely blow off customers when their boots break just weeks after you get them. Totally dishonest practices. There are tons of complaints about poor quality online. I've had to get consumer protection involved. Shop anywhere else.
Really let down by these boots. They're supposed to work in temperatures as low as negative 40 degrees Celsius, but that's definitely not true based on what I experienced. I'm in Canada and my feet were ice cold even when it was just negative 15 degrees. The insulation doesn't do its job and heat escapes immediately. Based on the advertising, I expected way better performance, but these were a huge disappointment. Can't suggest them to anyone wanting genuine winter protection.
I've been a Bogs customer for 15 years. The lifetime warranty used to be a lifesaver when issues popped up. I was thrilled with every pair up until recently. Now they've cut the warranty down to just one year and the boots quality has really dropped. I've got holes where the neoprene connects to the rubber along my shin area. The warranty won't cover it since it's been 15 months. I stopped by a local retailer that carries Bogs and they only had a couple options for women's boots. The workmanship is just not good. Something has changed with this company and I can't recommend them anymore. One star is honestly still generous.
The back seam split open after only a season and a half of light wearing. People said their customer service was fantastic, so I went through a bunch of back and forth emails with a rep. The claim form wouldn't take my pictures, so I sent a screenshot asking for help but the person stopped responding. Called twice before I got through to someone who just told me to email the photos and details to the same address I'd already been using. Got a response fairly quick offering me a $50 credit that can only be used in their online shop. I guess it's something. But why would I spend more money on boots that already failed? I would have preferred to send them back for repair with them covering shipping.
I absolutely love my Bogs! Got the Crandall II Mid Gumboots since I'm on a property and walk my dog every morning through frosty fields and creeks. My feet stay warm and dry, the traction is excellent, and they've got neat design features like a little groove at the ankle that makes them easy to pull on and off. I use a bit of WD40 on the zipper periodically to keep it working smoothly. I'd definitely recommend these. Really happy with them!
Got a pair of mid-calf rose garden patterned gum boots and have only worn them a few times but they're already leaking where the seam between the boot and sole comes together.
I ordered these gumboots in a size larger specifically for work wear and they ended up being way too tight around my legs with loose space around my foot, so my heel would slide around in the back. I tried them on with just shorts and socks, but for work I'd need to wear long pants and tuck them into the boots, which is impossible because the leg opening is so snug. Plus I have smaller legs. I'm petite. Beyond the heel slipping, the boots put pressure on your feet in uncomfortable spots. I only wore them inside and knew right away they'd never work for my job. They were just awful. I sent them back.
My credit card kept getting rejected on their site. I emailed the company explaining the website issue and that I still wanted to order something specific, including the product number. The response I got back seemed like it was from a bot and didn't actually help or even address what I asked. Tried calling next and just got a voicemail greeting. Left a message but haven't heard back. Is this even a legitimate business?
