What Shoppers Say About Bonefish Grill
Bonefish Grill receives mixed reviews, with shoppers rating it 2.2 out of 5 based on 18 reviews. The restaurant struggles with consistency in food quality, with multiple complaints about overcooked or tough fish, excessive breading, dried-out sides, and ingredient issues including rotten vegetables. Service problems are also frequent, ranging from understaffing and slow service to rude bartenders and inconsistent attention from staff. Several reviewers felt their meals did not justify the price point.
On the positive side, some shoppers appreciate certain dishes and report good experiences with specific courses or wines. A small portion of reviewers (22 percent) gave five-star ratings, suggesting the restaurant can deliver satisfactory experiences. However, the majority of negative feedback centers on food preparation issues, ingredient quality, and service failures that left diners disappointed, particularly during busy periods or at specific locations.

Sorted by: Most recentBonefish, you really need to step up your game. I went for early dinner with two friends on a recent date and had a reservation for 3pm but waited a bit at the bar to grab drinks. The bartender was kind of rude and kept complaining that she was the only one mixing drinks and serving people at the same time. We just wanted to relax and chat. Once we sat down, those chairs were falling apart and shabby. For a restaurant that charges premium prices, that's not acceptable. The food itself was just mediocre. I had a salad with crab cakes and truffle fries but the fries tasted old. I didn't send them back because I didn't want to wait forever for a replacement. Your restaurant has really gone downhill in quality. I'm not coming back.
Had the fried cod and it was dry and covered in way too much breading. Very oily too. The baby potatoes were shriveled and dried out. For nearly $28 this meal was really unappealing and disappointing.
We took my husband out on his birthday at the Florida location and it was a nightmare. Bread wasn't offered unless you asked for it. Every side dish we got had rotten broccoli that was brownish and yellowed. My husband ordered the surf and turf and the filet was cut from the tail end, which is the worst part of the loin, not quality cuts. The lobster was rubbery from being overcooked. When we told the female manager about the spoiled broccoli, she said it was just al dente style cooking, which makes no sense. She had the kitchen redo the same bad cut of meat instead of getting him a proper center cut. Everything else we ordered was low quality and smelled off. My husband got sick and was throwing up all night afterward. Skip this location entirely. They need better management who actually understands what decent food should look like.
The meal was just okay, not really what we were hoping for. We did a wine pairing dinner with three food courses plus dessert. The first course was really good though quite spicy. Second course arrived lukewarm and was mediocre. The main dish was salmon that was overcooked even though the sauce on top was nice. The biggest problem was the service which felt slow with long gaps between courses, and we ended up waiting over thirty minutes just to get our bill and leave. We won't be coming back.
Stopped by during lunch rush and we were understaffed with just one server handling everything, so service moved slower than usual but wasn't terrible. Ordered the Cod Imperial and honestly it was the worst fish dish I've ever had. The fish wasn't flaky at all, it was tough and chewy like rubber, and even with a knife I couldn't cut through it properly. Tasted awful despite the nice toppings. I normally come here once a month but won't be back for a good while after that experience.
Got the bang bang shrimp tacos at the restaurant today and they were nothing like I expected. They had some weird nasty pickled sauce on them instead of the flavor profile I was looking for. Really disappointing.
The service was terrible. We ordered drinks and waited 15 minutes to get them. Then we ordered food and it took at least 35 minutes before it showed up. We tried ordering more drinks but could barely find our waitress. When the food came, the fish and chips wasn't good and it wasn't even hot. I doubt we'll be back.
I left a review and got an email back, but the only way to contact the restaurant was through a gift card system. There's no actual customer service phone line. My main complaint was not being able to get a table at 3:45 without a reservation even though the restaurant was barely full. This is in a competitive market with plenty of other restaurants that charge a lot less and probably would've seated us.
My wife and I ate at the location on a Saturday night in August. We started with the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer which was excellent, and the bread was delicious. My husband ordered the twin lobster tail dinner and loved it. I got the Chilean Sea Bass which turned out to be a huge letdown. The portions were two tiny, flat fillets that didn't look anything like proper Chilean Sea Bass. The mashed potato side was bland and the spinach was underseasoned. Really disappointing overall. To the restaurant's credit, our server was friendly and got our orders right away. I just think they need better quality seafood and fresh vegetables.
