What Shoppers Say About Bonefish Grill
Bonefish Grill receives mixed reviews, with shoppers rating it 2.2 out of 5 based on 18 reviews. The restaurant struggles with consistency in food quality, with multiple complaints about overcooked or tough fish, excessive breading, dried-out sides, and ingredient issues including rotten vegetables. Service problems are also frequent, ranging from understaffing and slow service to rude bartenders and inconsistent attention from staff. Several reviewers felt their meals did not justify the price point.
On the positive side, some shoppers appreciate certain dishes and report good experiences with specific courses or wines. A small portion of reviewers (22 percent) gave five-star ratings, suggesting the restaurant can deliver satisfactory experiences. However, the majority of negative feedback centers on food preparation issues, ingredient quality, and service failures that left diners disappointed, particularly during busy periods or at specific locations.

Sorted by: Most recentWent out for a solo dinner this afternoon and had an amazing time. The sirloin steak was incredibly tender and tasty, and I really appreciated that the server checked to make sure it was cooked to my exact preference and it was. It's rare to find that level of attention to detail. The Lump Crabmeat crab cake was packed with real crabmeat. The server was wonderful too. I also took advantage of a $5 discount with their rewards program. I'm a big fan of Bonefish.
Had a solo dinner today and it was fantastic. The sirloin steak was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the server actually checked back to make sure it was cooked exactly how I ordered it. That's something I've rarely experienced anywhere. The Lump Crabmeat crab cake was loaded with actual crabmeat, which was great. The server was friendly and attentive too. Plus I got $5 off through their rewards. Really love this place.
The server took good care of us and the poke appetizer was absolutely fantastic. Wine selection was solid and the bread came out warm. Then we ordered from their two-for-one special. My shrimp dish was pretty good but the sauce was skimpy and everything felt dry. The scallops tasted off and there were barely any of them, and I'm guessing they used bay scallops which are lower quality for a $33 entree. My wife's chicken was overdone, tough and dried out. The server did replace it but waited way too long, so I finished eating while she was still hungry. Not ideal timing. She just took hers home. I know there was a big party there but that's on the restaurant to manage better. Really let down by the whole experience.
Ordered the Chilean seabass and absolutely loved it. Honestly shocked this place doesn't have more five-star ratings online. Great restaurant if you're looking for clean eating options. Will definitely be back.
Visited the Tennessee location on a recent date and ordered the Fish and Chips. When it arrived, I tried cutting it with my fork and immediately realized the fish was way too tough and rubbery. I cut a piece from the middle, took a bite and had to spit it out because it was completely rubbery. I didn't make a big deal about it, just let the waiter know I couldn't eat it. He offered to get me something else but by that point my appetite was gone. The item was taken off the bill when we got it. I paid what I owed and tipped the server decently anyway. What really bothered me though was that no manager came over at any point during the meal. After the waiter apologized, no one else ever checked back until they dropped off our to-go desserts and the check. That's poor management on their part.
The grouper was tough and chewy. All the food was pretty mediocre honestly. My dining partner and I both agreed we'd never come back. When you spend $150 with tip for a meal without even having drinks, you expect to walk out thinking that was the best dinner ever and you can't wait to return. Over time I've gotten good at spotting when restaurants are struggling, and unfortunately that's the vibe I got here. It's sad to see a place heading in that direction.
Good food, but the service was really frustrating. We had huge gaps between courses and our server never asked if we wanted another drink or more water. She could've made better money off us and the restaurant would've benefited too if she'd checked in to offer another round. When we mentioned wanting dessert, the options were limited anyway, but it still took over 15 minutes for her to swing back by and take our order. I've worked as a server myself so I'm pretty understanding about the job and usually tip 30 percent. Tonight though? No way I could do that.
Bonefish Grill is a fantastic restaurant with great staff and consistently excellent food at reasonable prices. It's one of my favorite spots in the beach area where I live. The restaurant is very clean, upscale, and the quality never wavers. I eat here regularly and honestly have never had a bad meal. Same company that owns Outback and Carrabba's so you know they've got their operations down. If you go, definitely get the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer, it's a must-try. Great place whether you're going for a full dinner or just stopping by for drinks and appetizers. Two thumbs up all the way.
