The British Food Depot Reviews
What Shoppers Say About The British Food Depot
The British Food Depot receives extremely polarized feedback, with 24 reviews split sharply between satisfied and dissatisfied customers. The small minority of positive reviewers praise the quality of products and fast shipping, with one shopper calling them their go-to source for British items. However, 71 percent of reviews are one-star ratings citing serious operational problems: items arriving warm or expired, incomplete orders, wrong items shipped, long delivery delays without tracking updates, and unresponsive customer service across phone, email, and text. Several shoppers report being unable to reach support despite repeated attempts, and one customer was asked to pay return shipping for expired goods despite already paying high shipping fees.
The most consistent complaint across reviews is the lack of responsive customer service. Shoppers describe unanswered phone lines, ignored emails and text messages over periods of weeks, and unhelpful responses when support does reply. Additional problems include inventory management failures (items showing in-stock at purchase but out-of-stock at fulfillment), temperature control during shipping that compromises frozen and refrigerated goods, order fulfillment issues where customers receive only partial shipments or wrong products, and expensive shipping costs that make returns or replacements financially burdensome for shoppers.

Sorted by: Most recentI bought what I thought and what the website showed as Coleman's products from the UK. Instead I got items made in the USA from Seven Nations Food Distributors in New York. Classic switcheroo. I've kept photos of my order receipt showing Coleman's products and photos of the actual item labels I received in case I need them. Shop somewhere else if you want honest UK products.
If negative stars were possible, I'd give them that. Got a box of Easter candy and one of the Lucozade cans inside had gotten crushed, leaking all over everything and creating a huge sticky orange mess. When I opened the box it was literally dripping. This wasn't a shipping company problem, it was the warehouse staff being careless and just tossing things in without any care. There wasn't even a quality check sheet included, which says everything. I sent them photos and they told me to mail back the damaged items. Really? How am I supposed to ship back soggy ruined candy and cardboard? That doesn't make sense. Over $100 lost with zero offer to refund or give me points for a future purchase. This company takes no responsibility and has the absolute worst customer service around. I've spent tons of money with them in the past and wanted to back a small business. Not anymore. I'm done.
We bought 8 Easter eggs and 3 came damaged. We've sent them three separate emails with pictures. Still no reply. Won't suggest this place.
The products here are authentic and the prices are good. Delivery is also fast.
The products here are real and reasonably priced. Shipping is also quite speedy.
My order contained something I never asked for. I've tried contacting the company through Facebook and email multiple times, and even left a voicemail, but haven't heard back from anyone. This feels really unprofessional. I expected way better. Now I'm stuck with something I don't want and less money in my account.
If zero stars was an option, I'd pick that. I've purchased from them before. Back in November I made an order that supposedly got delivered through UPS, but I couldn't track it anywhere. I called at least 3 times and sent emails too. Nobody ever got back to me. I had to file a claim with PayPal and that's the only way I got my money back, but the whole thing took almost 2 months. Their customer service is nonexistent, rude, and careless. I won't shop there again.
There was a promotion for 10% off that I added to my cart, and the site said it would kick in at checkout. It never did. I've reached out to them three separate times asking them to fix it, but they haven't responded to any of my messages.
I wish I'd read the reviews first! I ordered Easter gifts for family overseas almost 3 weeks ahead. After 2 weeks with no shipping update, I had to reach out 3 times before they even replied. Then they said my order needed manual processing but it was done and shipping that same day. It's on the way now but won't arrive until a week past the original promised date, totally missing Easter. They haven't answered any follow up questions about the delay. Really disappointing customer service! I'm nervous the products will come melted like other people here mentioned, which would just be the final bad touch to an already rough experience. If my business made this kind of mistake, I'd pay to rush it out at no charge to get as close as possible to the promised date. Not recommending this place.
I'm a big fan of this place. I've shopped around for British food online, and they honestly have the best overall setup. Their prices tend to beat out the competition, with lots of sale items and generally cheaper everyday pricing. Shipping fees are pretty reasonable too. When I buy in bulk to maximize my shipping cost, it still feels fair. Their customer service team is fantastic. I sent in a question through their contact form and got a reply in about two hours on a Wednesday afternoon, which impressed me. Not every company responds that quickly to inquiries. That kind of attention shows they're actually reading what customers send in. My orders always show up perfect, even when I mix heavy stuff like cans with delicate items like chip bags. They've really got a system down. If you're an ex-pat or just curious about British food, I'd definitely recommend giving them a shot. Selection isn't always huge, so you work with what they have available, but it's worth it.
