We had been looking forward to this getaway for months, and my spouse, our dog, and I were all set to depart on Monday. Unfortunately, I became seriously ill early Sunday morning before we could leave. I ended up in the hospital that afternoon with pneumonia, and my husband had to call for an ambulance. When he tried to reach the property to explain our situation and cancel, he was bounced around between phone numbers and email addresses while I was quite sick. After several attempts to get in touch, we finally received a response. They acknowledged my illness but said that because we had to cancel on our arrival date, their policy meant they couldn't offer any assistance. While we understand that policies exist for a reason, we felt some compassion might have been appropriate given the circumstances. Even a partial credit note would have made a difference, but we received nothing except a brief apology email. We're really let down by how this was handled.
