What Shoppers Say About Cub Cadet
Cub Cadet products receive overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with the vast majority reporting serious reliability and durability issues. Customers describe equipment failing prematurely, tractors requiring frequent repairs that consume most operating seasons, and mowers with design flaws like poor mulching performance and steering problems. Parts availability emerges as a critical concern, with shoppers unable to replace worn components on older equipment, effectively rendering expensive machinery worthless. Customer service interactions are characterized as unhelpful and frustrating.
The rare positive comment acknowledges one product's mulching capability, but this is vastly outweighed by reports of equipment that fails to perform as advertised, even when maintained carefully by owners. Shoppers express regret about their purchases and frustration with the gap between sales claims and actual product performance. The consistent pattern of complaints across multiple product categories (tractors, mowers, trimmers) suggests systemic quality and support issues rather than isolated incidents.

Sorted by: Most recentI normally don't write reviews but this situation forced my hand. I purchased a small part for around six dollars and paid an extra twenty to get next business day delivery. Two days pass and nothing arrives. I attempted to track the shipment but the system only showed what my order contained. After waiting on hold for thirty minutes, I finally got through to someone. She gave me the typical corporate response about an IT problem and claimed my part would ship the next day, plus they'd refund the expedited shipping charge. That doesn't actually solve anything though. They should absolutely refund me anyway, but the real problem persists. I PAID FOR NEXT DAY DELIVERY FOR A REASON!!!! I could have ordered from a couple other retailers, including the biggest one out there, and would've only waited one additional day for regular shipping. Now I'm stuck because I'll need to wait four more days getting it from somewhere else with no overnight option. That's exactly why I NEEDED THAT NEXT DAY DELIVERY!!! At sixty-five years old, pushing a mower across an acre in this heat isn't safe. I really wish I had read the reviews first. I won't be doing business with them ever again!
Their phone lines are virtually impossible to navigate if you want to talk to an actual human. I've tried calling twice and both times spent more than half an hour waiting without reaching anyone.
I will never purchase another Cub Cadet again! Their customer service is dreadful, nobody picks up the phone, and their web chat only gives automated responses. I purchased parts six days ago and still have no idea whether they've even shipped, with absolutely no tracking number provided.
We bought a Cub Cadet with genuine enthusiasm. For the first week it ran perfectly, then it quit. We activated the warranty coverage for what should never have been a problem with a brand new zero turn. What made things worse was that the warranty repair shop they recommended kept the machine saying it could take about three weeks. Still haven't gotten it back and that was early June. Getting in touch with the company based in North Carolina is nearly impossible. We get barely any updates and Cub Cadet themselves can't help at all. I regret not being able to return it. But they held onto it past the thirty day window. Now we're wondering if we bought some kind of refurbished unit from the big box store. Absolutely never again.
I've had this ST100 string trimmer for approximately three years. One of two things is going to happen within the next week. Either I'm going to swap in a Briggs engine or I'm going to trash this thing and buy a completely different brand that uses a Briggs engine. This machine performs well when it actually starts, but getting it going is a coin flip. When the engine is cold, forget about it, and if it does warm up it flat out won't restart. Obviously this means once I begin mowing I can only keep going until the tank empties or the line needs replacing. This is the second Cub Cadet piece of junk I've purchased and it's absolutely the final one. Complete garbage.
Still haven't received my Cub Cadet parts. I ordered replacement parts online for my zero turn mower. My grass looked great the day I placed my order, but two weeks have gone by and the lawn is completely overgrown with still no parts arriving! You can get mail from coast to coast in three to four days! My next mower purchase will definitely not be a Cub Cadet.
Really glad I decided against purchasing a mower from them. During account creation, the system kept reverting to an incorrect zip code. It took 3 days just to reach someone and ask if they could help fix it. They told me this shouldn't be happening and suggested I try again. Unfortunately, every single time I attempted to correct it, the wrong zip code would reappear and prevent me from editing it. Because of the wrong zip, my credit card kept getting declined. I called back hoping we could resolve this together, but it took roughly 4 hours to get a representative on the line. After explaining the situation again, they said the same thing about it not being supposed to happen. I asked if I could place an order by phone instead and they said yes. I provided the model number since I also wanted to add the extended warranty to my purchase. Their response was laughable when they asked if I wanted to buy the entire mower. I clarified I just needed the tire tread. That was that. I feel bad for anyone who needs to contact their support team. Between my two attempts, I spent almost 9 hours total just trying to reach someone, spread across multiple days. Customer service is nonexistent.
I bought a grass collection system for a forty-two to forty-six inch deck mower but they shipped one for a fifty to fifty-two inch deck instead. I reached out to their customer service department five separate times and each call meant thirty minutes on hold with absolutely no one helping me. Now I'm unsure what to do next besides calling my credit card company to stop payment. Like everyone else, I'm very frustrated with how they handle support.
I'm done spending money on Cub Cadet. I paid good money for a lawn tractor and a leaf vacuum. My starter failed and I ordered the replacement on April tenth. By the end of the month I still haven't gotten what I ordered. You call to check and you're stuck on hold for over an hour just to get lied to. Absolute garbage operation. Hearing "Your call is important to us" followed by ninety minutes of repetitive background music while waiting is torture. Having your yard surrounded by weeds while this terrible company ignores your order for months is ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and don't buy Cub Cadet.
