Dell Canada Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Dell Canada
Dell Canada is rated 2.1 out of 5 by 16 shoppers, with a polarized distribution: 63 percent of reviews are one-star ratings. Shoppers who gave positive ratings praise specific product quality, particularly monitor display performance and occasional competitive pricing on laptops. One reviewer noted that Dell Canada's customer service improved when they persisted with a complaint about a defective monitor. However, the majority of negative reviews cite serious concerns about build quality, warranty limitations, and customer support. Recurring complaints include laptop hinges and screens failing within the first one to two years, automated support systems that do not provide real assistance, warranty cutoff policies that prevent repairs even when customers are willing to pay out of pocket, and difficulties with cashback rebate validation that prevents customers from receiving advertised refunds.
Build reliability appears to be a significant pain point across reviews, with multiple shoppers reporting hardware failures shortly after or near warranty expiration. Shoppers consistently describe customer support as difficult to access and unhelpful, with one reviewer noting that support staff rely on technical warranty language to avoid honoring customer concerns. The cashback rebate issue appears to be a systemic problem specific to Dell Canada, with shoppers reporting they cannot validate purchases through third-party cashback programs in the same way they can with other retailers.

Sorted by: Most recentPicked up a couple of ultrawide gaming monitors and one arrived with a dead pixel. When I asked about it they said one bad pixel doesn't count as defective per the warranty. I checked the warranty agreement and yeah, they were technically right. Obviously I was frustrated. I reached back out and told them I wasn't satisfied, and to my surprise they changed their mind. They shipped me a replacement immediately without even asking me to send the faulty one back first. I really appreciate them stepping up. Just had a rough experience with another brand so this really stood out. Super happy with the monitors themselves and the service they ended up providing. Would've been perfect if they'd done the replacement from the start without needing me to complain twice.
Didn't get my 20 percent cashback from a rebate site because Dell refuses to validate it. This seems to be standard practice with them unfortunately. I've used cashback programs for tons of purchases and only Dell gives me problems. You'll find tons of complaints about this same issue scattered across various websites. The company should probably be removed from that rebate platform, or at the very least if you're shopping specifically for the cashback benefit, look elsewhere. Still within your return window? Send it back right now while you can. I've reached out to Dell four times and the rebate site three times and they just keep saying wait 45 days. I'm pretty sure that's intentional so customers pass their return deadline without getting their money back.
You can get Dell laptops at decent prices, sometimes really cheap. That's pretty much where the positives end though. The actual build quality is terrible. My 17 inch model fell apart with the hinges breaking easily and the screen bends way too much. And forget about getting support, it's all automated robots and you won't get real help. This was my first and last time buying from Dell. Now that computer parts are back in stock, I'm going straight to other brands. Lucky I only grabbed one.
My Inspiron stopped working after just one year. The motherboard gave up 13 days past warranty expiration. Won't be going back.
Honestly, one of the toughest companies to work with if you're running a small business. I grabbed a 1500 dollar monitor from them and I gotta say, the picture quality and sharpness are fantastic (model U3821DW). Problem is, this monitor has a known issue connecting to MacOS, and mine was no exception. I reached out to their tech support team and, wow, what a disappointment. These folks seem completely lost and don't take responsibility for anything. First rep had no clue and just disappeared, saying he'd call back but never did. Called again and got another useless guy who kept rushing to end the call. When I pushed for actual help, he just hung up on me. Finally figured out that one person at Dell actually gives a damn. He walked me through some fixes, but nothing stuck. Eventually he said the monitor was dead and needed replacing. I'm still trying to get them to send a replacement and I'm already dreading how terrible this process is going to be. This is frustrating.
This laptop has been nothing but trouble since day one. Don't bother buying one. They refuse to address your issues once your warranty runs out, even if you want to pay out of pocket for repairs. I had software problems right within the first year but couldn't get support during the pandemic because apparently warranty expiration was all that mattered to them. Gifts shouldn't be this disappointing. I owned a Toshiba for a decade with zero issues and loved it. Stay away from this brand. They show zero understanding when you bring up concerns. When I asked if we could extend the two-week software replacement window to a month since the same problem came back three weeks after the first fix, they said absolutely not. Once that window closes, your computer is basically trash. I'm out 700 bucks on what might as well be an expensive paperweight. Don't waste your money.
Their support team is absolutely awful. It's obvious the whole operation got outsourced and they just don't care about helping customers. I'm not going to shop with Dell anymore. I know my way around computers pretty well so I fixed my own issue, but I feel bad for people who need actual support. Just skip this company. They've really gone downhill.
Ordered a Dell Inspiron laptop in silver that arrived much faster than expected. I've been using it for over two weeks now for remote work and I'm really impressed. I'm constantly switching between writing documents, video conferencing, and streaming content and everything runs smoothly without any lag. The fingerprint reader is awesome once you train it properly by scanning your finger at various angles. The keyboard backlighting is perfect when working at night. Some folks say the backlit keys are impossible to see during the day, which is technically true, BUT there's an easy fix, just disable the backlight during daytime hours using a function key on the keyboard. Keys become crystal clear then. I had a faulty key that wasn't registering properly on my brand new laptop. I chatted with Dell support and they immediately booked an at-home technician to replace the keyboard with no added cost. The technician needed a second trip to get the right component, but the entire experience was so smooth and professional I'd absolutely recommend them.
Placed an order for an Inspiron laptop in silver and it showed up sooner than I expected. After using it for more than two weeks now I'm really happy with it. I'm using it for work from home, juggling between document creation, video calls, and streaming all at once. Performance has been smooth and quick. The fingerprint login works really well once you get it calibrated right, picking up your finger even from different angles. The backlit keyboard is great in low light situations. I've seen complaints that the backlight makes keys hard to see during daytime, and that's accurate, BUT you can just turn the backlight off during the day using a function key. Keys are perfectly visible then. One issue came up where a key on my brand new unit wasn't responding correctly. I got on live chat with them and they had a technician at my house to swap out the keyboard at no extra charge incredibly fast. It took two tries to get the right part, but the whole process was smooth and left me really satisfied. I'll recommend them.
