What Shoppers Say About Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners
Dirt Devil vacuums are rated 1.5 out of 5 by 13 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. Recurring complaints center on poor durability, with customers reporting broken cords, cracked tubes, and failed components within days or weeks of purchase. Shoppers also cite significant functionality issues: hair and pet fur frequently clog brush rolls and suction paths, causing the vacuum to back up after minimal use. Maintenance is described as difficult and frustrating. Customer service experiences are uniformly negative, with shoppers unable to reach support or receiving unhelpful warranty responses.
A small number of shoppers report satisfaction with handheld models, praising their convenience for stairs and portable cleaning tasks. However, these positive experiences are far outweighed by complaints about build quality, design flaws, and inadequate customer support. Multiple reviewers explicitly recommend purchasing competing brands like Dyson or Eureka instead, and at least one customer filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Sorted by: Most recentI grabbed a Dirt Devil handvac thinking this brand might last longer than some other ones I've owned. Nope. A plastic piece that was bolted on just broke off. I'm not sure if I was still in the warranty window but I have my manual so probably. Didn't keep the receipt because experience taught me it's faster to just buy a new one. Called the warranty line and got an automated message saying they were closed even though it was during business hours. The website suggested using their live chat but nobody was available. I tried adjusting my privacy settings but the form wouldn't go through. I'm not buying Dirt Devil anymore and I won't tell friends to either.
Picked up a cordless Dirt Devil in early spring and it quit working out of nowhere. When I plugged it in to charge, the light blinked once then stopped. The place we bought it from went out of business, and when I reached out to Dirt Devil for help they basically said no. We bought a different brand cordless vac from another store and that old Dirt Devil ended up in the trash.
Own a Turbo+ and for what you pay it's acceptable except for one thing. It comes with a Turbo Floor Tool that's just supposed to be suction-powered for carpet and honestly it doesn't work worth a darn, especially on thicker carpet. At my old place with all hardwood it was fine but now with some carpet I'm basically going inch by inch with just the hose attachment. Dirt Devil won't be on my list of brands to buy next time.
