What Shoppers Say About Exploding Kittens
Exploding Kittens receives sharply divided feedback, with shoppers rating the store at 3.6 out of 5 based on 14 reviews. Many customers praise the company's customer service, describing staff as friendly, humorous, and genuinely helpful when resolving issues, even when problems originated with shipping carriers. These satisfied shoppers also appreciate the games themselves, particularly noting that Exploding Kittens is easy to learn, fast-paced, and has charming artwork. However, a significant portion of reviewers report serious frustrations with fulfillment and product consistency. Common complaints include shipping delays (packages stuck at distribution centers through the holiday season), mismatched card backs between expansions that compromise gameplay integrity, and non-functional promotional gift codes included in orders. Some customers also express concern about the company's marketing practices and data collection methods.
The store's performance shows a polarized pattern, with more than half of reviewers giving five stars while nearly 30 percent rate their experience at one star. While customer service appears genuinely responsive and willing to assist, operational issues around shipping reliability and product quality control seem to be driving negative experiences. Shoppers who had problems typically felt let down by delays during time-sensitive periods and by product defects that the company appears to acknowledge as recurring issues.

Sorted by: Most recentOrdered some games on December 8th for Christmas using a major carrier. My package got stuck at a distribution center starting December 13th, and by the 23rd it still hadn't moved. I contacted the company asking about the status and got a response from support saying everything would be fine and that I could arrange alternatives. Without any notification, they just cancelled the order, though I caught it when checking myself. After I complained, they basically told me to stay positive because everything would work out. I've had great experiences ordering from them before, but I won't be coming back after this mess.
The customer service here is top notch, with friendly and humorous emails, plus they jumped right on fixing an issue that was actually the delivery company's fault. I also really enjoy a bunch of their games.
When we ordered something online and accidentally received a newer version instead of the older one we wanted, their support team went above and beyond. They were incredibly kind and helpful, tracking down the exact version we were looking for and getting it to us in such an impressive way. Definitely planning to buy more of their stuff and tell everyone I know about them.
I've had the game for a while and decided to pick up one of the expansions. The problem is the card backs don't match the original set, which makes it super obvious which cards you're pulling or taking. After searching online, I realized this is apparently a widespread problem, so I reached out to customer support. They mentioned that older versions with certain markings would have this issue, but mine didn't match what they described. I even sent photos showing this, and then they just stopped responding entirely. The game itself is fun, but the company and their support are really disappointing. I'd skip ordering from them.
The actual game is solid, but I really dislike their marketing site and how they operate. I bought the main Exploding Kittens game and then grabbed the Zombie Kittens expansion. They included a gift code in the packaging, but when I tried to use it, nothing worked. It feels like their only goal is collecting your personal information for promotional spam. It's disappointing that they won't follow through on what they advertise or take care of their customers properly.
Hands down, this is the best card game out there in my opinion. Spotted it at a store, thought it looked amazing, and grabbed it without totally getting the rules. Best decision ever. It absolutely delivered on every level. Super simple to pick up and the rounds move fast. The art is funny and charming. Seriously, if you're thinking about it, just get it. Stop reading and buy it.
A business that operates wholesale in today's digital marketplace yet refuses to let partners use product photos is problematic from my perspective. While they claim fake copies are the concern, someone could easily buy one legitimate item and photograph it anyway, so that argument falls flat. You can't have it both ways. If you're worried about protecting images, stick to selling directly to consumers instead of wholesale. It's fine to make money off us retailers, but then turning around and limiting our ability to sell your products is frustrating. They're one of the few companies I deal with who take this micromanagement approach, and it doesn't make for a good partnership.
The delivery company lost my package right before Christmas. After I reported it on the 20th, the team shipped out a replacement really quickly and I actually got it before the holidays. Outstanding customer service from their end!
Bought a base game along with an expansion, but the card backs didn't match up. The expansion packaging included a note saying to reach out if you run into this problem. I contacted them and they immediately sent me a brand new matching base game at no cost. Really impressive customer service!
