What Shoppers Say About GenTux
GenTux is rated 1.2 out of 5 by 18 shoppers, with the vast majority reporting serious problems with the rental experience. Recurring complaints center on wrong sizes being delivered, items failing to arrive, unexplained charges for allegedly unreturned clothing (often $50 to $200 per item), and unresponsive customer service that ignores customer measurements and takes weeks to resolve issues. Shoppers report having to contact the company multiple times via email to get replacements, sometimes arriving just days before their events. The few positive reviews praise quick delivery and good fit when orders arrive correctly, but these represent a small fraction of feedback.
The core issues appear systemic: sizing errors, incomplete shipments, billing disputes over returns that customers claim were actually sent back, and a return process that some shoppers find burdensome (particularly around honeymoon timing). Multiple reviewers describe being charged twice or charged amounts that seem arbitrary. One shopper noted that out of ten people in their wedding party, only one person's suit fit properly.

Sorted by: Most recentGot my suit exactly two weeks before the event and it fit perfectly. The return instructions were super straightforward. Couldn't be happier with generation tux!
Two of my groomsmen got the wrong size delivered. One guy got slim fit when he should've had a bigger cut, and it took three weeks to get the right size. Another guy's shoes never even showed up. We had to bug them multiple times over email before replacement items finally came in just two days before the wedding.
Following the same pattern other customers have mentioned, I got slapped with an unexpected $200 charge for supposedly not returning pants that definitely made it back in my return shipment.
They said I didn't send a belt back when I absolutely did, and wanted to bill me $50. But then they actually charged me double that amount, $100. This should never have happened since I know for certain the belt went in the return package.
DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE. They say they don't use measurements, and even when you give them your actual measurements, they ignore you. My first suit didn't fit right. I called them with pictures of my measurements and a rep even acknowledged the email but then sent me back the exact same size again. Out of ten people, one person's suit fit okay. We were literally trading pieces around on the wedding day. For over $300, the quality was pathetic, like a Halloween party costume. Go to Mens Wearhouse or literally anywhere else instead. This is a complete ripoff.
Seems like they have something against newlyweds enjoying their honeymoon. After your wedding, they expect the groom to be out driving around hunting down a UPS location while on a honeymoon, even a short one. And they keep charging you daily for a just-okay rental tux. The tux we got had a broken piece, or maybe a kid messed with it. Strange company pretending to care when you complain. They target budget shoppers and then act like their basic rental is the most important thing in your life and charge you $125 for five days. That's literally half the rental cost again.
They don't actually measure you. Instead you go on their website and punch in your height, weight, and body type (slim, regular, or muscular). Their computer uses an algorithm to guess your size based on that alone. We got told that if the suit was off, they'd rush out a replacement overnight. Total lie! The suit showed up a week and a half before the wedding and it was completely wrong. We called them and they wanted us to email pictures. The second suit they sent was even worse! We called back three days before the wedding and they claimed they'd overnight a replacement. It didn't get here until hours before the ceremony! Getting tuxes through the mail is the dumbest thing ever. And wow, it was super pricey too! I'd give them zero stars if I could.
I almost never post negative reviews, but Generation Tux genuinely made our wedding the most stressful thing ever. Their whole pitch is that they make suit rentals simple and hassle free. Instead, we wound up burning weeks fixing their errors, dealing with duplicate charges, and missing deliveries. One of our groomsmen didn't get his jacket before the ceremony. It arrived the next morning, but he had to rush out and spend $200 getting the wrong size tailored instead. Generation Tux gave him a $50 credit. That basically set the mood for everything that followed. During the two months before our wedding, my husband was on the phone with them at least ten or twelve times, and every time he called he basically had to start from scratch because nobody actually looked at the notes from before. We'd get told suits would arrive on Tuesday and they wouldn't show until Wednesday. Not knowing if everything would actually get to us was keeping us both awake at night. Yeah, they ended up refunding half the order, but then they went ahead and charged us late fees, even for outfits that didn't arrive before the wedding was done. That's just putting policy ahead of being human, and that's not okay for a wedding company. They also make it really annoying to post reviews. I had to dig through old emails just to locate the link. When a business tries to hide feedback, that tells you something is wrong. If they truly had satisfied customers, they wouldn't make it so hard to share opinions.
I just needed a pocket square. But to get this one pocket square, I had to fill out tons of paperwork about how I fit. I had some laughs with it and put down a 100 inch waist. With the shipping charge, this pocket square ran me almost 40 bucks. It took forever to get here and showed up with this huge return bag. I had to email their slow support back and forth to confirm it was okay to keep. Once the wedding was over, they started demanding I return it right away and threatened $25 per day in fines! Their website shows a 4.8 rating or whatever, but don't believe it.
I reached out asking if they could waive or reduce the $25 daily late charge since my son's prom date got mixed up. I wasn't even expecting them to do it, but they never responded to me at all. Really frustrated that nobody bothered to reach out and try to work something out. I'd give their customer service a big fat zero for responsiveness and their willingness to help.
