What Shoppers Say About G.H. Bass & Co.
G.H. Bass and Co. receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with a 1.5 rating based on 24 reviews. The most frequently cited issues include severe quality degradation compared to the brand's historical reputation, with reviewers reporting leather separation and premature deterioration in boots. Sizing accuracy is a major problem, with customers finding sizing charts unreliable and needing to exchange items multiple times. Customer service complaints are widespread, including long shipping delays without updates, contradictory information from representatives, rude treatment, and refusal to assist with fraud cases. Final sale policies prevent refunds on defective or ill-fitting items.
A small minority of shoppers express satisfaction with G.H. Bass products, but positive feedback is sparse. The dominant theme across reviews is that the company's quality and customer service standards have declined significantly, leading many customers to feel the brand no longer justifies its prices. Issues with order fulfillment, lack of transparency about backorders, and payment problems create frustration among buyers who expected better service from an established footwear company.

Sorted by: Most recentAwful Experience With Order Processing and Refund. I placed an order on October 31st. By November 2nd, Bass cancelled three of the four items, saying they weren't available. The fourth pair arrived but I didn't like it, so I returned it. I got a FedEx confirmation showing that a Bass employee signed for the return. I've called multiple times asking about my refund, and every time I get a different story. One representative even told me on a call on November 21st that the credit would be issued that very day, which never happened. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company just to finally get my refund processed. I'm done waiting and dealing with this company. My advice to anyone considering purchasing from them directly: don't. Buy from a department store that carries the brand instead. It's been two months since my initial order and still dealing with refund issues. This is completely unacceptable. I paid immediately when I ordered, so why is issuing a refund so difficult? How can any business operate like this? It feels like incompetence, theft, or both. Totally unacceptable.
Christmas Gift Never Arrived and Poor Service. I ordered shoes on November 30th as a Christmas present and sent a couple of emails asking about my order status. Got no response or updates from anyone. When I finally called on December 12th, the customer service person told me there was a mix-up but couldn't promise delivery before Christmas. He mentioned trying to get expedited delivery at no charge but said that request was denied. I cancelled the order and switched to Cole Haan instead, who delivered my shoes within days. I've worn Bass shoes my whole life and was feeling nostalgic about this purchase, but I'm done. Never again will I buy from their website. Cole Haan's service is far superior. It makes sense now why Bass closed all their physical stores. A century-old company clearly isn't what it used to be, and I doubt the shoe quality is either.

Outstanding Service and Beautiful Shoes. I received fantastic customer service, reasonable shipping times, and free returns with a quick refund process. The shoes are absolutely gorgeous and are made with impressive quality.
Excellent Service and Quality. The customer service team was fantastic, shipping was reliable, and returns are free with quick processing. Plus, the shoes themselves are stunning and clearly well-made.
Slow Shipping Despite Paying Extra. I paid for expedited shipping and it's been over a week without any shipping confirmation email. Why is it taking this long just to process and ship the order?
Damaged Product and Refusal to Help. I ordered red velvet loafers and one arrived with damage to the top. I asked for a replacement and was told no because it was marked final sale. I've never experienced such poor customer service with this kind of runaround. They sent me a damaged product and then refuse to replace it with an undamaged one, which is what I should have gotten in the first place. The situation has been passed to management multiple times with no resolution. I'm apparently thousands of people back in line. How does this business even stay open with zero customer service? It's absolutely terrible.
Feels Like a Scam. The tracking shows my order was delivered and someone signed for it, but I never received it. I tried reaching out to the company for help and got nowhere. I contacted the shipping company and they wanted to charge me $2 just to provide more details about where my package ended up. The company looks legitimate on the surface, but I feel like I was stolen from.
Wrong Item Shipped and Ridiculous Response. I ordered a pair of boots and paid extra for expedited shipping. When the package arrived, it contained the wrong boots entirely. I called customer service and they told me to photograph the incorrect boots and email the photos to them. Their response was that they'd waive the $6 return fee as a gesture of goodwill, but I'd need to return the wrong boots for a refund. If I still wanted the boots I originally ordered, they suggested I place another order online. How is waiving a $6 fee a gesture of goodwill when they shipped the wrong item to me? And expecting me to pay another $300 to get the correct boots I already paid for? This is not how customer service should work. Management clearly needs to rethink their approach.
Shoes Failed and Company Won't Respond. I loved my sneakers and they were comfortable, but the soles came completely unglued after just one year of normal wear. I sent emails with photos asking for a replacement. Radio silence. After waiting a month with no response, I called and got disconnected. Called again and waited on hold for half an hour. When someone finally picked up, they just told me to email them about it, which I'd already done a month before with zero response. I ended up using super glue to fix them myself, but the sole is falling apart again. The shoes are headed to the trash. This company never responded to a single email or phone call. Don't bother ordering from them if your shoes have any issues because you'll be out your money. There are much better options out there.
