Hallmark Cards Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Hallmark Cards
Hallmark Cards shoppers are overwhelmingly dissatisfied with their experience, rating the company 1.8 out of 5 based on 20 reviews. The primary complaints center on order fulfillment failures, with customers reporting cards that never arrived despite paid orders, non-functional tracking numbers, and missed occasions like Valentine's Day. Website issues are also a major pain point, including software crashes that result in lost work and lost payment, along with sudden price increases on orders attributed to tariffs. Additional grievances include poor customer support (generic emails only), staff rudeness and indifference at physical locations, and inconsistent service where some customers are prioritized over others.
The vast majority of reviews are one-star ratings, reflecting deep customer frustration. While a small percentage of shoppers gave higher ratings, the overwhelming sentiment is that Hallmark's online ordering system is unreliable, customer service is inadequate, and the company does not stand behind its products or services. Shoppers consistently advise others to avoid the company entirely, particularly for online orders where communication and fulfillment appear to be major operational failures.

Sorted by: Most recentSince there's no Hallmark store nearby, I've ordered from their website before without major issues. This last order was for birthday cards my elderly father was supposed to send to my siblings, but they arrived way too late and both birthdays had already passed. Hallmark never reached out to explain what happened or apologize. I'll be trying other options moving forward.
This sales associate was unbelievably rude. She barely spoke, didn't smile, and made zero eye contact. I even joked that she must have taken a course in rudeness, but her face didn't move at all. My wife had already paid or I would've abandoned the cards right there. The store wasn't even busy, which makes it worse.
I ordered a personalized photo birthday card and had some concerns about the picture quality. I reached out to customer service and they got back to me within hours. Their response was so great that I'm upgrading my rating from three to four stars. They were genuinely grateful for my feedback, which makes sense since this was a newer product for them, and they even offered a free replacement card. The website interface was tough to work with for positioning and adjusting photos, and it took me a full hour to get things looking right. When it arrived on time, the colors appeared good on screen, but the actual prints turned out too dark. I'd suggest uploading brighter photos if you try this. The card quality itself was nice and the price was fair.
I ordered two Valentine cards online and had to deal with duplicate accounts which made it complicated to use my rewards coupon. Their support team wanted me to spend half an hour on the phone with a tech person fixing a problem that wasn't my fault, but I pushed back and they handled it anyway. One card was at the store while the other was supposed to ship separately, yet I never got the second one. I emailed support twice with no reply. When I called about a refund I got a case number but never received any confirmation from PayPal or Hallmark. I won't shop their site again, customer service is terrible.
I made two orders and both had problems. One showed as delivered but never actually shipped, and the other arrived missing several cards. Plus getting a person on the phone takes forever, way more than 30 minutes.
I went to upgrade from my old card program to the 2020 deluxe edition. When I clicked purchase, my screen went blank and I got an error saying it couldn't reach the server. I tried multiple times with no luck. I checked my email and nothing was there, so I went ahead and ordered again. After I downloaded the new software, I discovered two separate order confirmations in my email. My bank didn't show any duplicate charges initially, but then they did. I called but got routed to a separate company handling the software. Their voicemail said because of the pandemic nobody was available. I had to email and still haven't heard back after five days. This is ridiculous and I'm completely done with them.
The whole free e-card thing is misleading. You're told it's free while you're designing, but once you go to actually send it, boom, you have to pay. This gets buried in the fine print somewhere. Total scam.
I prefer shopping both in stores and online depending on what works for my schedule. Their website is simple to navigate. I had to return a couple items from an online order at a store location and the manager took care of everything, preparing the shipment box and putting it aside for FedEx pickup so I wouldn't need to go through the whole return process myself. Really impressed with the help.
I'm a fan of both browsing in person and ordering online when I can't get to a physical location. Their website is really straightforward to use. Recently, I brought back a couple of things from an earlier online order to return at the store. The manager there was amazing, she got me set up with a return box and made sure it was ready to ship out with FedEx later that day, so I didn't have to hassle with all those return steps myself. Outstanding service.
