Jos. A. Bank Clothiers Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Jos. A. Bank Clothiers
Jos. A. Bank Clothiers receives sharply divided reviews, with shoppers either praising exceptional in-store service or expressing frustration with product quality and customer service. Positive reviewers consistently highlight outstanding assistance from individual store staff members, noting their friendliness, styling expertise, and willingness to go above and beyond. However, the majority of reviews cite significant concerns about durability, with customers reporting that dress shirts deteriorate quickly despite infrequent wear, experiencing fraying collars, cuffs, and loose threads within two years. Additionally, shoppers have encountered problems with online order processing, including address errors and inflexible customer service representatives who cannot make corrections after purchase.
A recurring theme in negative reviews is the perceived decline in overall quality and craftsmanship in recent years, with customers attributing this to cost-cutting measures following the company's ownership changes. While individual store locations and staff members can provide positive shopping experiences, the underlying concerns about garment longevity and inconsistent order handling suggest systemic issues that extend beyond any single location.

Sorted by: Most recentI really want to recognize Cliff at the Williamsville NY location for providing outstanding service. He was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure I got exactly what I needed. Your company is fortunate to have someone like him on the team. Thanks so much, Cliff!
I've purchased several dress shirts from Jos. A Bank over the years and they all fell apart much sooner than expected. Even with just weekly wear, they lasted less than two years before having major problems. The collars, cuffs, and even the button-front edges started fraying badly. Loose threads appeared all over the shirts and they became unwearable because they looked so shabby. I have dress shirts that are over ten years old from other manufacturers that are still holding up perfectly fine. The quality of Jos. A Bank dress shirts is just not acceptable. I ordered an American-made shirt to replace them and I'm hoping that will be a better investment.
I placed an online order and they entered the wrong address in the system. I called within 20 minutes of placing my order to fix it, but spent nearly an hour on hold only to be told they couldn't make any changes. This company is a complete mess and totally incompetent.
Just visited Jos A Bank for the first time while in town from out of state. The service was fantastic! Aaron Ray really helped me out when I was choosing a suit, shirt, and tie combination. He's got great taste and a real talent for styling. Would definitely give it 6 stars if I could!
The Towncenter store location was once really well run and the staff showed customers genuine respect.
The quality at Jos A Bank has really gone downhill over the last several years, especially after the parent company of Men's Wearhouse took over. The fabric is noticeably thinner and cheaper than before. The craftsmanship and tailoring aren't nearly as precise as they used to be. Everything just feels like a cost-cutting move. Take their soft shoulder jackets for example. They market these as an improvement for customers, but it's the same kind of misleading marketing you see when a car wash advertises free self-vacuuming. For decades, suit jackets have had padded shoulders to give them structure and make them look sharp. When you remove that padding to save manufacturing costs, you end up looking like you're wearing a shapeless sack with lapels. Jos A Bank used to be known as the affordable alternative to Brooks Brothers. Now they're just cheap.
The tuxedo rental experience here was terrible. I didn't even get an actual proper tuxedo. Unless you want to be disappointed at your event, do not rent from this place if you want a real traditional tuxedo. The pants don't fit right and the shirt isn't acceptable either.
That rental was one of the worst quality suits I've ever worn. The day of the event, I actually went back and grabbed an old suit from my closet instead. While the old suit looked worn and tired, it at least fit properly. This rental had a slide tie that was indented the wrong direction and when I asked about returning just the tie, they said that wasn't possible since it was already ready to go. I was able to try it on for fit, but the list of issues was so long we decided it was just too late to fix anything. Save yourself the trouble and shop elsewhere.
I spent two years working at Jos. A Bank and can tell you it's not a good place if you're looking to build a career in menswear retail. The regional management team didn't really understand what sales staff were responsible for and had poor insight into how well they actually performed. Because of this, the Southeast Florida locations had a huge problem with sales consultants quitting regularly. The management team just didn't receive adequate training and it showed in how staff would often misread what customers needed. The company's reputation with customers was pretty bad too. If you're thinking about working in men's clothing, you'd be smart to look elsewhere.
Brian at the Summit Mall location in Fairlawn Ohio really stood out. He juggled helping me with a suit fitting while also getting a grandfather fitted for a tuxedo. His work ethic and positive attitude throughout the process really impressed me. The quality of the suits is great too! Much appreciated!
