What Shoppers Say About Kodiakleather
Kodiak Leather receives sharply divided feedback, with shoppers either praising the quality of handmade leather products or expressing frustration with defects and customer service. Positive reviewers highlight the excellent craftsmanship and quality relative to price, along with good packaging and shipping. However, the majority of reviews cite significant issues: products arriving with manufacturing defects (such as broken snaps), stiff and impractical designs with undersized pockets, and a customer service approach that frustrates shoppers. A major complaint involves the company's refusal to cover return shipping costs for defective items and their preference for email-only communication, which shoppers find slow and ineffective for resolving problems.
The core issue appears to be a disconnect between product quality and practical usability, combined with customer service practices that leave defective product owners bearing financial responsibility. Shoppers express disappointment that despite premium pricing, the company does not stand behind defective products or prioritize responsive communication. While some find the leather quality impressive, the restrictive return policies and limited customer support significantly detract from the overall shopping experience.

Sorted by: Most recentThis product is stiff and heavy with pockets that are way too small. It's not practical or usable at all, and I could barely get my hands into the side pockets. The shape is awkward. For the price they're asking, you'd think they'd stand behind what they sell, but they won't. I hardly used it and they refused to exchange it or give me any kind of credit. Their customer service is terrible. I'm done with this company and won't be ordering anything from them again. Skip it.
Customer service here is pretty limited. The company only wants to communicate through email, which doesn't work great when you need back and forth conversation about something. After tons of emails I finally got the service rep to call me, but I missed it. She left a voicemail saying I should email if I still wanted to talk. I've sent multiple follow-up emails and left two voicemails but nothing. I got a bag as a gift and don't want it, so I tried to return it. The website said it wasn't eligible. When I reached out to ask about it, they said the original order was over 30 days old so no returns. I explained I didn't order it myself, I got it as a gift. Nothing after that. I've been trying to get them to respond about whether there's any accommodation for gift recipients or if I have any other options, but I keep getting ignored. The bag is still being sold on their site, so it's not discontinued. I even left a message asking if an exchange was possible or if I'm just out of luck, but no response.
The bag is nice but it came with two identical snaps on one pocket, so you can't actually close it. I let them know about the defect and they told me I'd have to pay fifty bucks out of my own pocket to ship it back to them for the fix. That's not right since it was their mistake. I ended up just sewing it shut. Pretty disappointing.
Really happy with my Buffalo Messenger purchase from Kodiak. It's awesome to find a company that actually cares about their work. The quality of these handmade leather products is incredible and honestly better than what the price suggests. The packaging was great and FedEx got it to me super fast. When I had a question and emailed customer service, the owner himself got back to me in a couple hours. This is the kind of business you want to support. Definitely ordering again.
