What Shoppers Say About Leapfrog
Leapfrog products receive overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 25 reviewers rating the brand 1.5 out of 5. The most consistent complaint centers on customer support, with multiple shoppers reporting that the company is unresponsive to inquiries and provides little to no assistance after purchase. Baby monitor products specifically are cited for quality issues, including software glitches that obstruct the display, inaccurate temperature sensors, failed chargers, and units that stop working within two years despite active warranties. Shoppers also note limited availability of replacement parts and a company unwillingness to address problems even when they occur within warranty periods.
A small minority of reviewers (12 percent) gave positive ratings, though the overall pattern suggests significant dissatisfaction with both product reliability and the brand's approach to customer service. Shoppers consistently recommend avoiding Leapfrog products entirely in favor of alternatives, citing the combination of high pricing relative to durability and the lack of meaningful support when issues arise.

Sorted by: Most recentPurchased a book reader for my son as a Christmas present on a major online retailer. I had trouble getting the extra content downloaded on a tablet, then realized it needed to be done on a computer. The only device I had access to was a Chromebook. I called their support line and the representative was incredibly rude and unhelpful. I was just asking how to download the content, and all she said was that it's the retailer's problem and there's nothing she could do. I was calling about a product her own company makes! I'm absolutely shocked by the treatment I got. Never buying their stuff again and warning everyone I know to stay clear.
Got a baby monitor and right out of the box it didn't have the charger for the parent unit. Support took forever to reply. With a brand new baby at home, waiting is the last thing you need, so we just bought a charger ourselves. It worked okay initially but after a few months we started having connection problems. Eventually the camera stopped responding completely. We contacted support and had to wait days for answers. When they finally got back to us, they basically said sorry, we can't fix it, you need a replacement. And wouldn't you know it, our warranty had just expired. This company has lost us as customers forever. Nothing has disappointed me more than this purchase.
Reached out to their support team about a broken pen on their interactive globe toy. We'd owned it for a while but used it only a couple times when the pen stopped working. When I called them, they basically said go buy another one. Then they said since it was over a year old it wasn't their problem. I mentioned the consumer protection laws and they said I needed to deal with the retailer instead. Absolutely shocking response.
Terrible experience with this company! Never purchasing from them again. Their customer support is pathetic. I was told my monitor would be replaced, but then nothing happened for two months! It's ridiculous! Plus the battery doesn't even last long.
We own two LeapPad Ultimate tablets plus numerous other products from them since we have three kids. The problem is not all games are compatible across both tablets. If you accidentally buy a game for the wrong one, tough luck. They won't refund you or let you exchange it for a compatible game. They just keep your money and tell you that you should've read the fine print. Let's be real, parents don't have time to study their terms and conditions! There's gotta be an actual reason they won't help, and it seems like they're just taking advantage of frazzled parents.
Absolutely terrible support experience. I reached out to this company six times total, three emails and three phone calls about an issue with my order. My emails went completely unanswered and when I called, they gave me the runaround. Still nothing has been resolved. You'd think a company like this would care about their reputation. They're great at cashing checks but won't lift a finger when there's a problem. I'm stuck with a useless product and money out of pocket. Frankly, it's unacceptable.
Would rate lower if the system allowed it. We got a Leapband from a store three years back for our granddaughter but thought she was too young. This Christmas we finally gave it to her and tried downloading the required software from the website but couldn't find it anywhere. So I emailed to ask. Their response was basically that they stopped making Leapbands ages ago and the software is no longer available for download. Here's my advice to anyone thinking about buying their stuff, they abandon software support after just a few years, so be careful.
Their customer support is awful. They don't even bother reading what you write to them, and the links they provide don't work, leading to dead pages. Wish I'd never wasted my time and money on their products.
I can't believe how many negative reviews there are for this company. I sent back an item only to find out they won't cover the shipping to return it. I spent 17.50 pounds sending it back with tracking because that's what they wanted. The refund would've been 56 pounds but basically got wiped out by return shipping I shouldn't have had to pay for. The product was garbage anyway and didn't work. Their customer service team just said no, we won't pay for that. It's a huge company, they should be able to handle this. I'm still fuming about it. Total waste of time and money.
I'm really upset to say this about them. I ordered two items. The first one arrived quickly and I was satisfied. But I had to email twice to track down the second item. I sent those emails earlier in the month and just now they're saying it's out of stock. By this point I could've ordered it from somewhere else, but now nothing is available anywhere. It would've been nice if they'd told me it wasn't in stock instead of me having to chase them down today only to find out I've been refunded. Pretty disappointed and I need others to know about this experience. Do your research before ordering from them.
