What Shoppers Say About Marcus Theatres
Marcus Theatres is receiving a low overall rating of 2.0 out of 5 from 15 shoppers, with 60 percent of reviews being one-star. The primary complaint centers on a $4.95 convenience fee charged for online ticket purchases that cannot be avoided even if tickets are refunded. Additional complaints include a problematic website verification system, poor screen quality, uncomfortable seating, unfriendly staff interactions, high concession prices, and inadequate theater cleanliness.
A small portion of reviewers report positive experiences, highlighting good movie selection, friendly staff, reasonable food options, helpful customer service, and appreciation for promotions and deals offered by the theater. These satisfied customers also note that online booking and ticket cancellation are straightforward processes. However, positive feedback is substantially outweighed by negative reviews citing frustration with fees, website usability, and overall facility conditions.

Sorted by: Most recentThe theater has gotten so stingy that they actually post guards by the slushy machine. I went up to get a refill on my drink and they literally blocked me from getting it. If there was any other decent theater nearby, I'd take my business there instead.
After leaving church, I took my daughter to see The Little Mermaid. We bought tickets online for a 1:40 PM showing and got there around 1:45. The concession line was empty, so I asked the guy working if he was taking orders. He said yes. I ordered a large popcorn with butter in the middle and on top, a large soda, and a hot dog. There was already a large popcorn sitting on the counter, but I figured he wouldn't give me that one since I specifically ordered what I wanted. I paid with a fifty dollar bill, but then he held it up in the air for what felt like forever. It was so frustrating watching him stand there with my money. Eventually he grabbed the popcorn from the counter and handed it to me with a cup. By this point I was really annoyed. I was already running late and completely forgot to add my rewards points because of all the hassle. Then he gave me my change but I never got the rest of my order.
Complete mess from start to finish. Our ticket said theatre 9 but the movie wasn't even playing there. We had to find an employee, who told us it was in theatre 10. We went in and nothing was showing. Back to the staff who said they'd get it started. When it finally came on, there was a narrator talking over everything through the speakers. We complained again and they had no clue what we meant. After about 10 minutes they came back, apologized, and handed us free tickets for another visit. Since we live 50 miles away, we just watched the rest of the movie. Then about three quarters of the way through, staff brought in food deliveries three separate times within five minutes, even though we and another couple hadn't ordered anything. As if that wasn't enough, I tried to give them feedback on their website but couldn't log in because our receipt had no access code. Honestly, if we didn't have those free tickets, we'd never come back.
Their app makes you jump through like 15 hoops just to order some snacks on your phone. They don't send anyone to your seat to take orders anymore either. Plus you're paying way more than what you'd spend at other theaters for the exact same stuff. If they gave you the kind of service they had before the pandemic, maybe it'd be worth it, but this isn't. The whole point should be to make things easier for your customers, not harder. Go to Cinemark instead, you'll get much better value for your money!
What an amazing experience taking my older sister to catch "Sailor Moon S" with English subtitles at the Elk River location! Everything about it was top notch. The theater itself was spotless, the picture quality was excellent, and I really appreciated that the sound level was comfortable. This mattered a lot since my sister deals with autism and can get overwhelmed by loud noises, but she had zero issues that day. She left the theater in such a good mood, even got a little teary eyed, and honestly so did I. The restrooms were clean as well, which is always a bonus!
