It's basically a data harvesting operation working hand-in-hand with Microsoft. Both companies are obsessed with collecting user information behind the scenes while pretending everything is fine. Classic corporate deception at its finest. Sure, the company can rebrand itself, but the corrupt core underneath never really changes.
Getting a response from a real person is practically impossible, and if you do manage to contact support, prepare to wait months for any kind of reply. I've been locked out of my account for a long time now and can't access any of the games I actually paid for.
I can't express how disappointed I am with this entire experience. I purchased Sims 4 years ago through Steam and recently tried downloading it on my Mac. The system recognizes my purchase, but the version is Windows only, so I can't install it or purchase a Mac version separately. I had multiple back and forth chats with their support team trying to figure out what happened. When I asked if they actually verified ownership before processing the deletion request, the employee got defensive about my email security. So I escalated and asked for a supervisor. That's when things got really bad. They shut down my conversation, blocked me from using the chat feature again, and told me my account could never be restored. The whole situation feels like a scam. They basically took my account and all my games without proper verification, won't give me my money back, and won't restore anything. I only had a few games here so my loss wasn't huge, but imagine if this happened to someone with a massive library.
