What Shoppers Say About Prose
Prose is rated 1.2 out of 5 by 25 shoppers, with the vast majority reporting serious issues with the company's operations and customer service. While some reviewers note that the hair products themselves performed well when received, this positive is overwhelmed by widespread complaints about billing problems (including unauthorized charges and double-billing on subscriptions), unresponsive customer service, extremely long shipping delays, and orders that never arrive. Multiple shoppers report months-long waits with no updates and unsuccessful attempts to contact the company through email or other channels.
Beyond service failures, reviewers also report product performance issues including hair that became drier and coarser after use, and problems with the questionnaire system that claims to customize products for mixed hair types but only allows selection of a single hair type. The combination of operational dysfunction, unresolved billing disputes, and inability to reach customer support has led shoppers to characterize the company as unreliable and poor value for the premium pricing charged.

Sorted by: Most recentTheir ads really got to me and I decided to try it. Big mistake. I used Prose for two months and deeply regret it. My hair got oily so fast and also super dry and brittle at the same time. It's broken off so much and I'm really upset about what happened. I should have stopped using it way sooner. Don't go near this brand. I also reached out to their support team over a week ago and still haven't heard anything. Looking at the other reviews, I'm pretty sure this whole thing is just a scam.
I see their commercials everywhere constantly. Looking at their ratings, it seems like their whole plan is just to blast people with ads and not worry much about actual quality. I think they just want to get people to try it, and whether you like it or hate it doesn't matter to them. It's just a numbers game to them. Based on how they operate and all the advertising, I'll never buy from them.
I agree with all the other complaints people have made. They give you a cutoff date to cancel before the next shipment, but they charge your card and send the order before that date anyway. They also sent me skincare products I never requested. The stuff they do send is outrageously expensive for what you actually get. It's a total scam.
I've been buying Prose for a couple months now, getting their shampoo, conditioner, and mask. I told them I have greasy roots, dry ends, frizz issues, and light colored hair. Since using their stuff, I've gotten breakouts on my scalp and along my hairline. My hair looks duller and gets greasy faster too. The mask is nice but the shampoo and conditioner just aren't working for me. Plus it costs way too much to keep trying different things. I'm going back to my rice water shampoo bars.
When my order finally came, it showed up damaged with a 50 dollar hair mask that spilled everywhere inside the box. I sent an email about it but never got a response. Then a week later they charged me again for hair supplements even though I already had two bottles from my last order. Getting help was a pain because their customer service setup is confusing. There's no phone number or way to chat with someone directly. You have to email them with all your information and wait to hear back. It's been a frustrating experience with bad communication and unhelpful support. Don't order from these folks unless you want a headache, and definitely don't save your card information with them.
