What Shoppers Say About Rykä
Ryka is rated 1.8 out of 5 by 20 shoppers, with the majority expressing significant dissatisfaction. Shoppers consistently report durability issues, with cushioning flattening within weeks and soles wearing out prematurely despite light use. Several customers also note sizing inconsistencies, particularly with width options fitting larger than expected. Beyond product quality, multiple reviewers cite poor customer service experiences, including unresponsive support teams and unclear return procedures that have left customers unable to resolve issues.
While a small portion of shoppers praise the comfort and fit when shoes work as intended, these positive experiences are overshadowed by widespread complaints about quality decline and lack of support. The brand, which shoppers recall as historically reliable, appears to have lost ground in both manufacturing standards and customer service responsiveness. Most dissatisfied customers indicate they would not purchase from Ryka again.

Sorted by: Most recentI purchased the Hydro Sport model and the toe area started peeling away just six months in. These aren't worth your money if they're going to fall apart that quickly. There's nothing on their site warning you about durability issues either.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love these shoes. I've got over 20 pairs from Ryka. But we placed an order more than a month back and still no delivery. Where are our shoes? This was supposed to be a Christmas present for my spouse and it hasn't shown up yet.
Think twice before buying from this company. I ordered some boots on November 29th. Six days later I still hadn't gotten a shipping notice. The boots were a gift for my daughter visiting from Canada and it was also her birthday. I emailed them on December 5th asking them to cancel since there was no way they'd get here in time. Got an automated reply saying someone would contact me within a few days. Nobody ever did. Then on December 10th I got word they were finally shipped. When I looked at my order it suddenly said final sale and non-returnable, which definitely wasn't stated when I bought them. This company operates like they're being sneaky, and their support is nonexistent. Taking over a week and a half to process an order is ridiculous. Haven't even opened the boots yet but I'm done with them forever. Get your act together.
Honestly this company doesn't even deserve one star. The whole experience was terrible from start to finish. Customer service was rude, didn't show respect, and absolutely refused to help solve my problem. I got a return label in the mail but the rep was so hard to understand I wasn't even clear on all my options. I went with the free postal service option. Then when I called to check on my shipment after 11 days, they said it hadn't arrived yet and that getting my money back could take three to four weeks! That's completely unreasonable. This whole situation is insane. I've already filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Not only is the return process a nightmare, but the shoes themselves are just not good quality. I would tell anyone to stay away from both this brand and this company.
After about a year the bottom of the shoe came unglued from the upper. I was told to return them for a refund, and I should mention I never wore them in wet conditions or dunked them in water. These were just gym shoes worn a couple times weekly. When I sent them back, I had to pay for shipping myself. Their response was that this wasn't a defect in how they were made. Even the manager said she couldn't override that decision. This brand will never get my money again.
I ordered two pairs of shoes in a single order and got hit with double charges on my card. One charge was for the items without tax from their subsidiary company, and then another full charge came through with tax included. It looks like they're trying to inflate their sales numbers or something. Either way it's terrible practice to use up your credit availability twice when it's not necessary. When I called customer service to ask what was going on, the rep had no idea. The manager who eventually got on, let's just say he was unprofessional. He kept raising his voice and wouldn't let me finish explaining what happened. Why would any company want someone like that managing their customer interactions? This experience was awful and it goes hand in hand with the double charge problem. The company's reputation should suffer because of this. If I could give zero stars I would.
Within my first month of regular wearing, the sole just separated from the shoe. Unfortunately the customer service experience was so bad that I didn't pursue a replacement and just kept wearing them until I could afford to go buy a completely different brand. The shoes were actually comfortable aside from that defect, but I won't take another chance on Ryka.
I did some searching online for good women's walking shoes and Ryka came up in the recommendations. Decided to try a pair in person but found they don't fit the way I was hoping. Despite the name sounding European, they really don't work for European-sized feet. The heel area feels way too loose and my foot keeps slipping inside. This is the same issue I had with Skechers too. If you have standard foot shape, Nike, Reebok, or New Balance are probably your best bets. I'd skip Ryka and Skechers though.
I've always struggled with my feet because of different issues combined. Mine are on the smaller side but really wide, plus I have high arches to deal with. I spent fifty years mostly wearing just sandals since nothing fit properly. Ryka finally made shoes where the width is actually wide and my toe doesn't stick out over the side giving me blisters and sores on my longer walks. This is fantastic. Can't say enough good things.
My feet have always been challenging because of multiple issues. They're small overall but super wide, and I've got high arches too. For five decades I basically lived in sandals because nothing else would work. Finally found shoes from Ryka that actually accommodate true width, and my toes aren't hanging over the edge causing pain when I walk long distances. Honestly this is a game changer. Really impressive work.
