What Shoppers Say About Shesbirdie
Shesbirdie receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with a 1.4 rating based on 17 reviews. The most consistent complaint centers on customer service responsiveness, with multiple reviewers reporting ignored emails, lack of follow-up on replacement orders, and unanswered support requests. Beyond service issues, customers cite product functionality problems (including defective units), misleading product descriptions and advertising (particularly regarding continuous light operation and subscription requirements), and difficulty with account management and unsubscribe requests.
The few positive aspects mentioned include initial quick responses to some inquiries, though these typically fail to translate into resolution. Shoppers indicate they would not recommend purchasing from this company due to both the product experience and the persistent inability to reach customer support when problems arise.

Sorted by: Most recentI got two and one keeps going off constantly. When I put the pin back in it won't stay locked. I notified them today after testing them out.
I ordered six birdies plus one free. Four of the six didn't work properly. They did send three replacements pretty quickly. But one of those replacements was also broken. They kept asking me to record a video of the defective unit. The video upload kept failing for some reason. I sent pictures instead showing the switch in the on position with no lights coming on. The product idea is solid but having four units out of ten fail is a real quality control problem.
I discovered after two years that the alarm won't even activate. Like many others have mentioned, I bought a Birdie+, set up the app, and paid for the subscription only to realize the app wouldn't stay connected. When you're out and about in the real world, you don't always have WiFi, so this device never sends notifications to your contacts anyway. I paid for roughly four months of subscription even though I tried canceling right away. I'm not sure why I paid almost double the current advertised rate of about five dollars monthly. I decided to just use it as a loud alarm and clipped it to my purse strap. For two years I've carried it around, sometimes going out at night in other countries and alone, thinking at least I had some protection. It never occurred to me to actually test it. Today I tried taking the pin out so I could change the batteries before my next international trip and the pin won't budge. I yanked on it repeatedly but nothing happened. I'm incredibly disappointed because I've been relying on this as backup protection for places where pepper spray isn't permitted.
Don't spend your money here. I bought one last year with a subscription thinking it would be perfect for personal safety. I downloaded and connected the app, but I just realized I wasn't actually connected for the entire past year. Apparently you have to keep the app open constantly and stay on WiFi the whole time. So I've been walking around thinking I was protected when I wasn't. Fast forward to October when my subscription renewed. The app said my battery was low. I emailed customer service about it and they told me what battery to get and where, plus sent a YouTube video link showing the replacement process. I ordered the battery from a retailer and it came Saturday. Sunday I pulled up that video link to watch the instructions and the device shown isn't even the same as mine. I emailed them back about this mismatch. They said someone would contact me. Almost a full day went by with no response, so I asked for a refund and to cancel my subscription. Why do they have different models?
The Birdie+ extras are pretty worthless and I'm really unhappy about this purchase. I got it specifically for the live chat support and location tracking features. I'd open the app on my phone, connect the device, then go out biking through woodland trails. I kept pushing location updates to my contacts, but when I got back they said they never got anything. The app showed my device was disconnected. This happens every single time I leave home. Getting support is painful since it's email only, and responses take five to seven days. They just keep telling me I need internet access at all times, which doesn't make sense when you're outside without WiFi. I have cellular data but that's apparently not what they mean. Reaching out to them is a hassle and I bought three of these so they're basically just sitting here not working. I'm trying to get refunds for the subscriptions at least. I also went directly through the company website instead of Amazon hoping for better customer service and support, but that's been useless. I keep asking for a real person to talk to but they won't let me. Their AI email responder isn't helpful either.
The app stopped working months ago, which basically renders the whole thing useless. The customer service team is terrible. I'm currently paying for a subscription that doesn't even function. The idea itself is great, but continuing to sell subscriptions while knowing the service doesn't work is reckless and puts women in actual danger.
It seemed easy enough to activate but wasn't actually useful. My mom got this for me for international travel. It's cute and TSA friendly, but the design is flawed. When I pulled it out during packing, it went off right away. Because it activated so fast, I struggled to reassemble it properly. Besides giving me a terrible headache, what upset me most was that my mom and my partner couldn't hear the actual alarm noise, just me yelling for help. Really disappointed in this gift.
