What Shoppers Say About STUTTERHEIM
Stutterheim raincoats receive polarized reviews, with shoppers split between those who appreciate the design and basic functionality and those frustrated by significant quality and design issues. Recurring complaints center on poorly designed hoods that fail to protect from rain, durability problems including peeling linings and jamming zippers, water seeping through pockets and the coat's cut, and a cumbersome return process that charges customers fifty dollars if they don't print and attach their own return labels. Customer service experiences have also been negative, with reports of dismissive staff and unresolved refund issues. Some reviewers note the products don't justify their price point given the quality concerns.
On the positive side, a smaller group of shoppers appreciate the aesthetic design of the coats and confirm they do keep users warm and dry when the design flaws don't interfere. However, the majority of recent feedback suggests the products underperform relative to their cost, with functional defects that make them unsuitable for their intended purpose as rain protection.

Sorted by: Most recentBought a women's XL raincoat and the hood is ridiculously small. When it rains, my face, forehead, and glasses all get soaked because the hood doesn't actually protect my head. My husband's men's version has a proper-sized hood. It's embarrassing having to wear something that doesn't work like it should. Everything else about the coat is great, but that hood design is a huge flaw.
Can't comment on the actual products, but I ordered something that looked way bigger than the pictures showed, so I tried to return it. Their return policy is super frustrating though: you have to print out the return label and put it in yourself or they charge you fifty dollars. What company makes returning stuff this complicated? Who even has a printer anymore? It seems deliberately confusing like they're trying to stop people from returning things. I'm not ordering from them again.
It's an okay raincoat but doesn't match the price tag. Yes it keeps you warm and dry, but the lining started peeling away after just a few weeks of regular use. The zipper gets jammed constantly, making it annoying to put on and take off. I had high expectations so I'm let down by the quality. Not planning to buy another one or tell my friends about it.
Should have read reviews first. The design looks beautiful but the quality is really disappointing. I got the desert green version and wore it in the rain and it was a mess. The pocket placement and the way the bottom is cut means water just pours in, soaking your legs and filling the pockets. The hood is loose and doesn't stay in place, so when it rains your face and head still get wet like there's no protection. I can't believe companies still operate this way in 2024.
Absolutely terrible service from their support staff. Stefan was incredibly disrespectful and claimed he never got my emails, even when I provided screenshots with dates and correct addresses proving I sent them. He wouldn't admit he was wrong about the emails and never apologized. I still don't have my full refund back for two coats that didn't fit me, a month later. I'm sure this will get a rude response too, but people need to know how poorly they treat customers when something goes wrong.
Ordered a jacket several weeks back and it arrived with wrong sizing - got an XS when I clearly paid for a Small, even though the label said Small. Shipped it back the same day I received it. A few days later they confirmed they had it, and when I spoke with their support team, they just said it was "mislabeled at the factory" without even saying sorry. Still haven't gotten my refund. They told me via email it would take up to 14 days, which feels way too long for a mistake on their end. I've tried contacting them through different channels and they won't respond. Their customer service was rude and their packing was sloppy.
Had a terrible experience with their customer service. Got one of their raincoats as a gift years ago and the fabric around the snaps started falling apart, so I reached out. Days later I heard back from someone in their Stockholm office who was pretty rude and accusatory. Even after I sent photos with the coat's reference number, I was treated like I had a counterfeit or stolen item just because I couldn't show a receipt. The whole conversation made me uncomfortable. It's sad because I've been a loyal customer for years and spent good money with them, but that interaction made me want to avoid them completely.
Major design issue with these coats. They're made with a small head size in mind, which doesn't work if you wear your hair up at all. If you have any kind of ponytail or your hair isn't completely down, the hood is way too tight. For the premium price they charge and how practical they claim to be, this is a serious oversight.
Got this originally as a gift for my mom but she didn't care for it, so it's been mine ever since. Wore it when I was visiting Scotland and had an awesome experience. The lightweight style in light grey is so good at keeping you dry and it looks really stylish. The material itself has this amazing quality that keeps you warm and cozy. You can layer it up or wear it alone with a simple shirt and it works for any weather. Would buy another without hesitation. The only downside is marks show up pretty easily, though they come right out with a little water. I also own a Herschel raincoat that I really like, but the shape and appearance of this one is my favorite.
Got this for my mum initially but she never wore it, so now it's mine. Took it with me to Scotland recently and absolutely loved it. I have the lightweight version in light grey and it kept me completely dry while looking really fashionable. The fabric feels warm and comfortable against your skin. Works great over layers or worn solo with just a basic shirt underneath. Perfect for changing weather. Would definitely buy again. One small thing is it can get marked easily, but a damp cloth cleans it right off. I also have a Herschel raincoat that I enjoy, but I actually prefer the style and fit of this one.
