OUAI Haircare Reviews
What Shoppers Say About OUAI Haircare
OUAI Haircare shoppers report mixed results, with roughly equal percentages rating the brand at either end of the spectrum. Those who rate highly praise the product quality and visible hair benefits, particularly for managing hard water damage and achieving softness and shine. However, many reviewers encounter significant issues: some experience scalp problems like flakiness and oiliness after switching to OUAI products, while others find the scent off-putting (described as reminiscent of medical shampoo). Beyond product performance, recurring frustrations include poor website usability, unclear order confirmation and tracking, lack of customer service channels, and silent product discontinuations without communication from the brand.
Price is another sticking point for dissatisfied customers, who feel the cost is not justified by performance, particularly when products require multiple applications to lather or don't work for their hair type. The brand's lack of transparency around product changes and customer communication failures appear to damage loyalty even among longtime fans. Shoppers seeking responsive customer service or reliable website functionality may find their experience frustrating.

Sorted by: Most recentI honestly don't understand where all the negative feedback comes from. Their fine hair mask is a game changer for me, leaves my hair soft and full of bounce. Their detox shampoo is fantastic. Since I'm in a hard water area, my hair gets so damaged with all that buildup, but after using this my scalp feels totally clean without getting dry. One 300ml bottle lasted me five months with my fine but fairly long hair. It's really concentrated and thick, lathers beautifully with just a little water. Important note though, don't use it every day or you'll strip your scalp out. Use it maybe twice a month max. I also started using their hair oil recently and I'm obsessed with it, makes everything silky and shiny. Just ordered the scalp serum and I'm excited to try it. Different products work for different people, but OUAI is one of my favorite hair brands and I'm baffled by all the bad feedback online. Check other retailers if you want to see more balanced reviews. I'm based in the UK and haven't had delivery issues either.
The quality is fantastic, so I'm really conflicted. My hair turns out incredibly smooth and shiny, even though my city has super hard water, but the smell takes me back to lice treatment shampoo from when I was a kid. So now I've got gorgeous soft hair but also a weird compulsion to get away from my own head.
Tried the fine hair shampoo but it turned my already dry hair into an oily mess. I was only shampooing twice a week but now I have to wash daily because my scalp got super flaky and oily. This is the first time I've ever dealt with visible flakes or dandruff and this shampoo and conditioner caused both. My hair also feels heavier than before. I'm really let down and frustrated with how this worked out.
I've been using OUAI for years and was a huge fan of their products, especially the styling range like the Fixing Spray, Texturizing Hair Spray, Volume Spray, and Matte Pomade. What bothers me isn't just that these items are vanishing from the lineup, it's that the brand stays completely silent about it. We have to figure out discontinuations by spotting out of stock tags or searching online communities. The Fixing Spray specifically was one of a kind, gave strong hold without any stiffness and smelled incredible. There's nothing like it anywhere else now. Then everything disappeared. Watching them all fade away without any word from the company feels really disrespectful. In today's world, customers deserve to know what's going on. Other brands have gotten way more loyal customers by being transparent about discontinuations, explaining what happened and offering options or new versions. OUAI just silently removes things which kills trust and makes it impossible to stick with them. I genuinely think their stuff works great, but until they actually communicate about why products are being pulled or reformulated, I can't recommend them. It's hard staying loyal when the company acts like you don't deserve an explanation.
I placed an order and got a confirmation but no actual receipt. The site is clunky and confusing. There's no way to talk to someone about order status or delivery timing or even confirm they're working on your stuff. The only option is email and that's not reliable. It's not showing up in my account either. I'm calling my credit card company to cancel the transaction.
The scent is amazing but I had to shampoo twice to get any lather going. The price is way too high for what you get. Not buying again.
This stuff is really good. I started with just the shampoo for dogs and honestly it's not only the best smelling dog shampoo out there but it makes my dachshunds' coats incredibly soft, shiny and smooth. The fragrance is fantastic too. Everyone constantly comments on how great it smells. Then I also got the Detox and fine hair shampoo and both are excellent. Definitely ordering again.
UPDATE: The company reached out after my initial review and is replacing my order. I wasn't home when the delivery arrived and only got notified on the day it was coming, so I couldn't make arrangements. DPD just left it sitting on the street and the box was soaked through with the bottle inside wet. I reported this to OUAI but haven't heard anything back yet. I never approve leaving packages outside, yet apparently that's standard now. This was supposed to be a gift but the condition is too poor to give as one, and I can't be sure water didn't contaminate the product. The leave in conditioner actually smells really good, though spraying it directly on your hair doesn't work well since it comes out way too concentrated.
I want to return the leave in spray and mask and get a refund but they won't do anything about it. I get way better results from coconut oil. These are the worst hair products I've ever bought. Don't waste your money.
I read tons of positive things online about this brand so I was disappointed by the leave in conditioner for fine hair. It's labeled as a mist but actually sprays in a heavy stream that dumps everything in one spot, requiring multiple applications in different areas. That's definitely not what I was expecting. The scent is nice though.
