The Tile Shop Reviews
What Shoppers Say About The Tile Shop
The Tile Shop receives sharply divided feedback, with shoppers either praising the in-store experience or criticizing pricing and product quality. Positive reviews highlight helpful and patient sales associates, convenient ordering and pickup options, and quick shipping. One satisfied customer noted spending hours with staff to select tiles and flooring for multiple bathrooms and appreciated their attentiveness throughout the process.
Negative reviews focus on three recurring issues: markups described as 50 percent or higher compared to wholesale alternatives, quality concerns with damaged tiles arriving (cracked corners), and a restrictive return policy that accepts only full boxes rather than individual damaged items. Some shoppers report finding comparable products at significantly lower prices elsewhere, and one contractor indicated they would not return due to pricing and quality relative to their wholesale supplier.

My spouse and I had a wonderful time shopping at our local Tile Shop. The sales associate was incredibly helpful, offered thoughtful suggestions, and really paid attention to what we needed. They took a couple hours working with us to pick out tiles and flooring for our two bathrooms and showed amazing patience and kindness throughout. If this is your first time buying tiles, I'd definitely recommend asking for their help since they'll guide you every step of the way. One thing I noticed is that the virtual preview tool on their computer system doesn't always give you an accurate sense of how things will actually look installed. It was challenging to visualize the final result sometimes. That said, this person was fantastic at walking us through different options and helping us see the big picture. Really grateful for their assistance.
After spending an hour examining different options and going back and forth, I finally settled on a tile that seemed perfect. The sales associate was really helpful and patient the whole time. I checked on availability a couple times, then we started looking at grout options. Once we picked that out too, a quote was prepared and I was told to come back after talking things through with my contractor. We exchanged some emails about picking it up Tuesday morning. When I arrived, I paid and loaded up at the dock. After a short wait, I found out they only had one box in stock and the grout had been sold out. The rest could arrive by Saturday but I'd need to choose a different grout shade. I decided to cancel. It's becoming increasingly common to feel like stores don't really value you as a customer anymore. You get put on hold for service, often assisted by people who are just learning the job. Store visits keep getting interrupted, and employees are constantly on their phones. So yeah, I'm let down, pretty annoyed about it honestly, and it seems like nobody there really cares besides me. Nowadays you only feel like a valued customer when you're spending serious money at an upscale place. Otherwise, just don't expect to be treated that way.
I've been building for decades and I won't be bringing my clients back here. This place marks up their products by 50 percent or more, and honestly the quality matches what I can get from my wholesale supplier at half the price. Plus their return policy is pretty harsh - they only take back full boxes. Some boxes contain items worth three to four hundred dollars, which means if you need just part of a box you're stuck paying for an extra ten or twelve square feet of material you don't actually want.
I'm really disappointed with the tiles I got from this company. I purchased two boxes for my bathroom renovation, and when I opened them up, almost half the tiles had cracked corners and were completely ruined. This is not just frustrating - it's thrown off my whole project timeline. The damage is clearly because the items weren't packed carefully enough. When you're shipping something as fragile as tile, proper packaging needs to guarantee it arrives in good condition. This company fell short on that responsibility. I don't expect a refund at this point, but I want to be clear that I manage multiple bathroom projects regularly and after this experience, I won't be ordering from here again. This carelessness has cost me both time and money, and I hope they seriously consider fixing their packing standards so other customers don't have to deal with this.
They have a really nice variety of tiles to choose from, but the pricing is just too steep for what I needed. I found comparable tile at a different store for significantly less money.
I ended up with 25 percent too many tiles (fifteen hundred dollars worth) that their sales team recommended, and they won't accept a return because my project went beyond their sixty day deadline. The design never changed - I just followed their quantity guidance. The tile got delivered at the end of March and I asked about returning it in late June. It was basic white subway tile for two bathrooms. Pretty classic stuff that won't go out of style. Just want to give folks a heads up about how strict they are with returns.
I actually shopped with these folks roughly two decades back. Came back to buy from them after moving to a different area in the country. They've got an impressive selection of different tiles, and the people working there are always willing to help out. Whatever you need for a tiling project, they've got it. I'd recommend them for sure!
The checkout process here is really frustrating. Their website moves at a snail's pace and they required me to set up an account. The whole thing took over twenty minutes from start to finish.
