What Shoppers Say About Apple
Apple TV has a severely divided user base. The small minority of satisfied users praise the quality of original programming like Slow Horses and note that the service can be worthwhile, particularly for those accessing it through Apple One bundles. However, the overwhelming majority of reviewers report critical problems with account management and service limitations. The most persistent complaint concerns subscription cancellation, with multiple users describing a broken or deliberately obstructed cancellation process that traps them in active subscriptions. Reviewers report being unable to complete cancellations through multiple browsers and devices, encountering stuck confirmation screens, and receiving unexpected charges including a reported cancellation fee of 21.95 dollars. Beyond billing issues, users cite a limited content library with infrequent updates, poor integration with non-Apple TV devices, and mandatory login requirements that exceed what competitors require.
The rating distribution reflects the severity of these concerns, with 83 percent of reviews awarding a single star. Even those who acknowledge decent streaming quality and select shows struggle to recommend the service due to account management failures and the frustration of leaving or accessing the platform.

Sorted by: Most recentI wanted to create an Apple TV account because there were some shows I wanted to watch. But I couldn't set up a new one because Apple said an account already existed under my email. I must have created one way back when I had an old device years ago, so obviously I didn't remember the password. I requested a password reset. Twelve hours later I got an email saying the request was denied. Apple literally refused to let me access my own account. I tried using my phone number and creating a different account but nothing worked. Customer service just told me to do what I already tried, asked if I had an iCloud address which I don't, or suggested I use my old device that's been broken for ages. They were no help whatsoever and their final answer was that I'd just have to use a different email address. Given how awful this service is, I'll just watch the shows through other means since Apple clearly doesn't want new customers anyway.
I saw a notification on the Apple TV app advertising a 7 day free trial so I clicked to check it out. Instead of getting the free trial, they charged me for a full month right away. I canceled immediately and asked for a refund but they said I wasn't eligible and that was final. Now I'm stuck paying for a month and everything I want to watch costs extra. Total ripoff.
I'm giving two stars instead of one only because the actual TV shows are good. But I signed up to watch a new season premiere and they took my payment, then locked my account for some reason. The day the episode dropped I tried logging in and got a message that my account was locked and I'd have to wait at least a day to unlock it. I called customer support, went through their automated questions, talked to someone for over 10 minutes, and still nothing got resolved. I'm paying now but can't actually watch the shows I paid for and nobody can help. It could be a week before their weird system approves anything, if it ever does. This ridiculous bureaucracy where nobody can actually help you is exactly why I stopped buying Apple devices, but apparently the TV service is just as annoying now. I just want to watch these shows legally and I paid for it, but now I'm stuck with limited options.
I paid and got nothing. Ever since my subscription started I can't watch more than one episode without constant interruptions. I signed up to watch a couple of specific shows and I literally cannot watch them without the stream breaking. Before you blame my internet, I watch Netflix, Max, Amazon, and Disney all the time without any issues. I've tried on four different devices and Apple TV keeps buffering and stopping. Maybe a refund is too late but I'm exhausted from being patient. After two weeks of this garbage service I'm requesting my money back. I feel scammed and angry, especially after they raised prices by 30% just two months ago. I want my refund and at minimum an apology for charging me for a service you can't actually deliver, especially for a company your size.
The shows themselves have great quality and range. But the service doesn't match that quality level. They probably spent all their money on content and forgot to invest in good developers. Windows app problems: First it wouldn't recognize my subscription and wanted me to do a free trial. Once we fixed that it decided to flicker my main monitor to black while showing the content on another one. So I figured I'd try the website. Website: I can't click on anything, can't log in, can't even click the free trial button. It's basically a picture of a website with no actual function. Alright, I'll use the TV app I've been using. TV app: infinite loading. Just spins and won't load as of yesterday. Lucky for me my subscription was free through a carrier promotion so I haven't paid anything. My advice: skip Apple TV, go watch paint dry instead, or take a screenshot of their website and stare at that. Same result either way.
Your website would be funny if it wasn't so annoying. Anyone paying for this service is being cheated. I click to play something and all I get are options for trial, free episode, or save to list. I pick free episode and it tells me I already have an active subscription then does nothing. Mix that with basically no actual content and it's a bad look for a company with such a big reputation. If anyone's considering this and planning to use a web browser, stay far away.
This doesn't work properly on Windows computers no matter which browser I use. The stream caps out at 480P on Windows while it plays 4K just fine on my Smart TV and other devices. The app forces HDR on with no way to disable it, which makes everything dark on screen. Other users online report the same issues and nobody from support responds. Terrible app, terrible shows, and terrible service overall. They won't get a single dollar from me.
