What Shoppers Say About Twelve South
Twelve South receives sharply divided reviews, with shoppers either praising responsive customer service or criticizing deteriorated product quality and durability. Those who had positive experiences highlight fast replacements and helpful support staff who resolve issues without hassle. However, the majority of reviewers report that products fail prematurely despite premium pricing, citing cheap materials, poor quality control, and manufacturing defects like laptop stand legs that do not fit as designed. Multiple shoppers mention chargers and electronics dying well before warranty expiration, and note that the company's one-year warranty provides limited recourse.
The central complaint is that Twelve South no longer delivers the Apple-like quality and attention to detail it once offered. Reviewers consistently describe products as overpriced for their durability and performance, with some experiencing significant inconvenience such as travel disruptions when devices fail overseas. While customer service appears willing to replace defective items, the underlying issue remains that initial product quality has declined substantially, leaving shoppers frustrated by the gap between marketing claims of premium goods and actual materials and construction.

Sorted by: Most recentI'd steer clear if I were you. What happened to this company? They used to have that Apple-like attention to detail and values. Now you get overpriced items made from cheap materials with basically zero quality control. The customer service is abysmal too. There are way better options out there that'll match your Apple gear with actual quality and better construction. Pass on these guys.
These Products Just Don't Hold Up. The reviews nailing this one are right - the quality is poor. Got my charger back in December 2022 for $80 and it's already dead. Their response? One year warranty, that's it, you're done. Meanwhile I've got cheap chargers from years ago still working fine. For something they market as premium, this thing underperforms compared to budget alternatives. Not impressed.
Would Give Zero Stars if Possible. This company has definitely earned that rating. Ordered a basic laptop stand that took weeks to show up, and when it finally arrived, I couldn't get the legs to go into the base the way the instructions said they should. Looking at the reviews here, apparently this is a widespread problem - you'd think making a simple 3-piece stand that actually fits together wouldn't be so difficult. And to make it even worse, they're now trying to take $9.34 off my refund for a product that already cost me $7 in return shipping. Their customer service is just as bad as their manufacturing.
Travel Warning: Don't Buy the PlugBug 120. I picked up the PlugBug travel 120 and while it did charge my iPhone, it completely failed with my iPad Pro. Got stuck overseas with a dead device and couldn't charge it. Definitely not worth the price they're charging for this thing.
Had an incredible experience with Twelve South's support team. When part of my Hover Duo broke, they sent a replacement right away. The replacement didn't fit my model though, so without any hassle, they shipped out an entirely new base instead. Now everything works flawlessly. Derek deserves a ton of credit for making this happen - his help and communication were clear and genuinely caring. I honestly expected to buy a new product or pay for repairs, but instead they went way beyond what I anticipated. Really grateful for how they handled this!
Really pleased so far with their team and products. Had something come up and they replaced it super quickly. Really impressed with how they handled it!
I had an iPhone cover from them years ago that was solid and I liked how it looked. So I grabbed a BookBook for iPad 11 with keyboard. Big mistake - they've really cut corners with quality. It showed up already scratched, and the synthetic leather they're using now is garbage. It gets marked up from barely touching it. Save your money and skip this company - their stuff isn't worth the price anymore. Feels like something you'd pick up on a cheap marketplace, not a premium product.
Honestly, this deserves zero stars. The quality is absolutely terrible. The BookBook cover only has real leather on the spine - everything else is cheap plastic that falls apart if you look at it wrong.
Quality Seems to Be Slipping. Got a case for my 14, and less than a year later it's literally coming apart. I reached out to them and was pleasantly surprised when they shipped me a replacement without any questions - great service! But then about 3 months in, the closing clasp started falling off. I've bought 4 phone covers from them over the years, but this is going to be my last. The materials in their cases have gotten really weak. Time to find a different brand.
The Quality Isn't What It Used To Be. I had a BookBook phone case years back that held up really well. Decided to get another one recently and was disappointed - things have changed for the worse. The closure tabs on my new case were torn and falling apart within just three weeks. By a few months in, it looked beat up. I asked them if this was normal now, and they actually sent me a replacement free of charge, which was nice. But honestly I don't like that they're creating waste either. Unfortunately the new one had the exact same problem. My BookBook laptop case from ten years ago still looks great, so it's clear they've let their standards slip over the years. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.
