Breyer Model Horses Reviews
What Shoppers Say About Breyer Model Horses
Breyer Model Horses receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with shoppers rating the store 1.8 out of 5 across 22 reviews. The primary complaint centers on customer service failure: customers report unresponsive email support, rude phone staff, unresolved order issues, incomplete shipments, and refusal to process refunds without credit card disputes. Many reviewers note that while the Breyer horse products themselves are attractive and collectible, the company's inability or unwillingness to support customers has driven loyal collectors away from purchasing directly from the official store.
A small minority of shoppers (18 percent) rate the store positively, but the dominant pattern among negative reviews involves orders placed in December 2024 and January 2025 that arrived late, incomplete, or not at all. Customers specifically mention waiting weeks for responses to support inquiries, unshipped items that were listed as available, and unexpected customs charges on international orders. The consistency of these complaints across multiple independent reviews suggests systemic operational and customer service problems rather than isolated incidents.

Sorted by: Most recentTheir customer support is just awful. The products themselves are nice, but they don't seem interested in actually supporting their customers.
Terrible customer service and they won't return emails. Staff are really rude when you call. I've never received a complete order or gotten refunded. I genuinely love the horses but there's no way I'm buying directly from this company again.
Been collecting Breyer horses for over three decades and I really thought better of this company, but my recent experiences have left me pretty frustrated. Ordered something December 1st and waited until mid-January to receive it. Then when new models dropped, I double-checked availability before ordering. Got the package quickly enough, but the main item I paid for wasn't in there. Rather than call, I sent an email and heard nothing back for a week. Finally started calling repeatedly today until someone picked up. The representative wasn't warm but whatever. When I mentioned I'd already emailed, she told me they get 7000 emails with only three people handling them. I made a mistake by asking when I might get a response because she seemed offended. Going forward I'll probably just stick with the stablemates club membership. It's really disappointing.
Placed an order in early January for a Friesian figure and matching tote bag. Only got the figure in a small box. The tote's been something I've been trying to get since summer 2024, and the site said they'd have it in January so I waited. Once it showed available again, I ordered both items together. Never arrived. Sent four emails across two weeks with no answer. Called twice, nothing. On my third attempt, a woman picked up. After I gave her my order number from the confirmation email they'd sent me, I provided my first name and offered to spell it out. Somehow she instantly knew every detail of my situation without me explaining anything. Clearly they were ignoring my emails the whole time. She then says shipping problems mean it probably wasn't ever actually in stock. That seemed weird since their website keeps showing stock updates and currently lists it as available, so it should be in stock now. Then without really talking it through she said she'd issue a refund and just hung up. This whole experience was terrible.
Customer service is horrible. Bought four items as gifts and they never showed up. Had to file a dispute with my credit card company as fraud because that was the only way to get my money back.
This is hands down the worst company to buy from. Like others have mentioned, I ordered a pricey Christmas present for my daughter on December 9th, 2024. Today is January 20th, 2025, and I've only gotten part one of three shipments, plus I got stuck paying all the duties and customs charges. Nobody answers emails and the phone line is basically useless. My daughter's Christmas got ruined. Please don't give them your business.
Purchased a model on December 8th and it still hasn't shipped. They ignore emails. The company's really gone downhill. Don't order from them.
I sign up for the Breyer premier club every year and 2025 has been a disaster. Never got an email when the second release dropped, found out on my own. Third release came around and I kept checking, called twice, was told they were running late with the emails and would send them soon. Mentioned I never got the second email notification and they confirmed my info was correct. Called a third time and was told it's not available. But it had definitely been released and posted somewhere, I just never got notified. This was the one my granddaughter wanted most and Christmas was ruined for her. I've called multiple times about this and two weeks later still haven't heard back. Paid for two club memberships just to miss out on getting the horse I wanted. It feels like a money grab and their customer service is nonexistent. They keep telling me releases are running late, but horses have already been released.
I started collecting Breyer horses way back in the sixties, and now my granddaughter enjoys collecting too. Sure, production moved overseas, but the horses still look fantastic and I hope they'll hold up as well as my vintage collection does. The real issue here is their customer service, which is just mediocre at best. Recently I placed an order and noticed the price on one horse dropped about twelve bucks before it arrived. I called on Saturday and spoke with a genuinely pleasant representative who listened and understood my request for a price adjustment. In my experience, most companies honor adjustments within two weeks of purchase, and this definitely qualified. I got an email the next morning from someone else who got my name wrong and basically said no dice on any retroactive adjustments. Oh, and their coupons rarely work regardless of how carefully you follow the terms. Honestly, I'll keep buying their horses but the service really needs improvement.
Something's really wrong with how this website operates and they need fresh management. Right before Black Friday sales start, the site works fine, but items sell out in under a second. Even if they only had three of each horse, that's impossible. Then two minutes after everything goes down, they send out their Black Friday email when everything good is already gone. They need new leadership. They should put a limit of one per person, per account, and lock orders while people are paying. I'm pretty convinced this website is rigged with staff members buying stuff early through some VIP back door before the regular public even gets access.
