What Shoppers Say About cafeappliances.com
Cafe Appliances has received overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with a 1.2 out of 5 rating based on 13 reviews. The most common complaints center on premature failures in core appliances like dishwashers, ranges, and ovens within two to three years of purchase, combined with extremely high repair costs (often $500 to $850 or more). Shoppers report that warranty claims are difficult to navigate, customer service is unresponsive or unhelpful, and when repairs are finally completed, appliances may still not function properly. Additional frustrations include misleading product listings regarding customizable colors (which require expensive add-on purchases rather than being standard), promotional items that never arrive, and technician no-shows for scheduled service appointments.
The consistent theme across reviews is a perception of poor value for premium pricing, with customers feeling that Cafe Appliances represent a significant financial loss due to durability issues and expensive repairs. No reviewers reported satisfaction with their purchases, and multiple shoppers explicitly recommend avoiding the brand entirely in favor of alternatives. The lack of any four or five star ratings underscores the depth of dissatisfaction among those who have purchased and used these products.

Sorted by: Most recentMy Cafe electric range has failed after only three years of use. The cooktop stopped working and needs a new range switch assembly. That part alone costs 600 dollars, plus another 250 dollars in labor to install it. So almost 850 dollars to fix something on an appliance I paid 3000 dollars for. It feels like a complete ripoff. The part that failed is used across all their GE products, and honestly, the inside of a Cafe range is basically the same as their cheaper models. Since the range is out of warranty, GE won't do anything about it. Save your money and buy something else. You're not getting better quality just because you're spending more.
Stay away from these units. My Cafe dishwasher's motherboard failed after just three years. Getting GE to cover it was a battle - they only wanted to pay half the actual price at first. After spending over 500 dollars, I finally got it back, but it doesn't wash well anyway. Now my Cafe oven won't even cook basic food properly because moisture is getting into the control panel and messing everything up. GE wants me to pay for a technician visit first, then maybe they'll help cover parts. They don't stand behind their appliances at all.
Today is genuinely one of my happiest days because I'm finally ripping out my GE Cafe dishwasher and replacing it with something that actually cleans dishes. Out of all the appliances I've owned over the years, this one is by far the worst. Your customer support is useless - all they do is recommend expensive repairs and parts for a brand new appliance that shouldn't need fixing in the first place. Maybe try making a quality product and actually standing behind it. I can't wait to throw this dishwasher away and never have to deal with the frustration of pulling out dishes that look dirtier than when I loaded them. It's been a nightmare and I'll never buy your products again.
This was a total rip-off. Got a Cafe induction stove in August and there was a promotional offer for a Hestan pan included. The stove arrived quickly, but we're now approaching Thanksgiving and still no pan. When I contacted customer service in September, they gave me the runaround about the order number not showing on my receipt. After I sent them a photo of the serial number from the stove itself, they finally accepted the claim. But months later and multiple attempts to reach them have gotten nowhere. The two phone numbers I have don't work or nobody picks up, and when I did get through to someone at the call center overseas, they said they'd have to escalate my issue. When I asked to speak to their supervisor, they just hung up on me. I mean, it's just a pan. My husband has filed a complaint with the company and I'm trying again myself. Seriously, just send the pan. I think their strategy is hoping people give up and move on.
Cafe advertises all these customizable color options for handles and knobs on their appliances, but here's what they don't tell you upfront. Each appliance ships with a standard handle and knob color - so stainless steel comes with brushed stainless handles. If you want something different like Brushed Black (which they list as an option), you have to buy a separate custom handle set. I purchased four appliances and wanted the Brushed Black handles instead of the brushed stainless that came with them. I had to buy the custom handle sets separately for each appliance, which cost me 1600 dollars total. Now I have two complete sets of handles and I'll never use one of them. It's a sneaky move by Cafe. If we hadn't been so far into our kitchen remodel, we never would have bought from them in the first place.
Our premium Cafe microwave worked great initially but quit working after just over two years. We think there's a motherboard problem. When we took it to the local dealer where we bought it, they said they couldn't get a technician out for more than 8 days. We actually shortened our vacation to be home for the appointment, but the technician never showed. When we called back, the store claimed the tech had come a day early and no one answered the phone. They told us it was our mistake for missing the early visit and wouldn't reschedule for another 8 days. If you're in the market for reliable service, skip this particular location.
My brand new Cafe Platinum Glass range caused our house to catch fire. Grease got underneath the pan and burner plate, and it got so hot it ignited. GE's response? A 200 dollar mail-in rebate. They don't care about you whether you spend 10000 dollars or 2 dollars - you get the same dismissive treatment. I'm looking into joining a class action lawsuit because this is unacceptable.
They said they'd deliver and install everything at my house. Instead, they just dumped the appliances in my garage and left. Four delivery appointments in a row were no-shows. I ended up having to pay my contractor 400 dollars to deliver and install the fridge and range myself. It's unacceptable, especially from what's supposed to be a luxury brand.
Loved these appliances at first, but they turned out to be terrible. My freezer stopped working after just a couple months. Then my dishwasher died after only 16 months. They look nice but for what you're paying, the quality is just not there.
Really disappointed with my dual fuel 36 inch range purchase. Wish I hadn't bought it. Right out of the box, the temperature wasn't accurate and I had to redo several meals. A technician came out and found it was running 35 degrees below what it should. The controls themselves are overly complicated with too many dials, knobs, and steps just to operate it. And the temperature probe is really awkward to use. Overall, it's poorly designed and manufactured.
