What Shoppers Say About Slumberkins
Slumberkins shoppers are deeply divided. Those giving five stars praise the quality of the plushies and books, noting that items arrive well-packaged and undamaged. Satisfied customers also appreciate the company's stated mission around emotional development and find the Yoto cards particularly valuable. However, the majority of reviews (63 percent) are one-star, with customers reporting serious issues around shipping, customer service, and refunds. Multiple reviewers describe paying for expedited or overnight shipping without receiving tracking information or order confirmation, and report being unable to reach the company by phone or email when problems arise. Customers also express frustration when the company's basic shipping service level leaves them without recourse for lost or damaged items, with the burden falling entirely on the customer rather than Slumberkins.
The stark rating split suggests that while product quality resonates with some buyers, systemic problems with order fulfillment, shipping transparency, and customer support are creating significant friction for others. Reviewers who invested substantial amounts (over $400 in some cases) express particular disappointment, noting a disconnect between the company's mission-driven messaging and their actual customer service experience.

Sorted by: Most recentWow, I've been trying to work this out with no success. I ordered 2 special edition Slumberkins on February 3rd. At checkout, I didn't add the extra shipping protection. I just talked to a carrier rep who told me that because this company uses the most basic service level, the carrier has zero responsibility and it all falls on Slumberkins to refund me. But their rep Toni said there would be no refund and that special edition is sold out now. These were supposed to be Valentine's gifts for my granddaughters. This would've been my family's 6th or 7th order with them and I'm really upset. I've messaged them many times before getting any response. The package last showed up in a scan on February 10th out in California. I never got it and haven't heard anything since.
I discovered Slumberkins through a podcast and was really inspired by what they said they stood for. I'm working through some tough relationship stuff and wanted to help my son build emotional strength. Their mission seemed perfect for that, so I spent over $400 on two separate orders, including extra books to share with families at my son's birthday celebration. I'd wanted to introduce other families to what seemed like a great resource. Later, I realized I'd bought too many books, so I contacted them explaining my situation and asked if I could return the extras I didn't need. They said no. I thought maybe it was just an automatic response and a manager might be more understanding, but come to find out the founder Callie herself made that decision. It really bummed me out. The whole experience showed me that they're not really the family resource they claim to be.
I got several Slumberkins items for my kids this Christmas. Everything came fast, was packed really nicely, and arrived without any damage. The books are gorgeous and the plushies are high quality. Super pleased overall. Here's the crazy part though: my husband accidentally tossed one of the little cardinal plushies without realizing what it was. I mentioned it in a review I posted about my order. A few days later, a replacement cardinal showed up at my door completely out of the blue. I wasn't expecting anything since it was our mistake, but they did it anyway. My son who loves birds is going to flip out on Christmas morning. I can't believe how generous they were.
My granddaughter left her Otter behind on a flight, so I needed a replacement fast. I paid for overnight shipping, which came to $113 somehow, on 01/06/23. It's now 01/09/23 and I haven't gotten a receipt, an email confirmation, or any word from the company. They just took my money and disappeared. There's no way to reach them by phone, no email responses, nothing on social media. It's shocking that a company claiming to help children operates this way.
I found Slumberkins while rushing to grab Christmas presents for my 4 and 1 year old nephews over Black Friday weekend. Their collection of plushies, books, and activities seemed spot on for those ages. I got the XL Otter and Hero Camp set. The lessons they teach were exactly what I was looking for since we live far apart. The Hero Camp especially seemed great for my nephew who's becoming a big brother. The Black Friday deals were unreal, too. I paid just over $100 when it would've been nearly $230 normally. Amazing discount! Everything looked good, I sent it to my sister's house on the east coast for the holidays, and then I realized I'd never even checked into the company before. When I finally looked at reviews online, my stomach dropped. I thought for sure the gifts wouldn't make it and I'd lose all that money. It was scary reading about everyone else's problems. But here's the thing: THIS ACTUALLY TURNED OUT GREAT.
My order never arrived, yet the company kept the payment. I asked for either a refund or a replacement and got ignored for weeks. When they finally responded, they said they wouldn't do anything to fix it. As someone who just became a mom and works in mental health, it's really disappointing that a company focused on children and families would take people's money like this.
If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. I ordered 2 Slumberkins plushies as Christmas gifts around Black Friday. I checked my confirmation email to look up tracking info. The email said the package had already been delivered and left at my front door. Except it wasn't there. We have cameras everywhere, doorbell cams included, and there's no record of any delivery. I called the carrier and got the runaround from their automated system. The virtual support wasn't helpful either, kept saying it was shipped one way when it was actually another. My local post office tried to help but they don't handle that carrier's packages. Four days and three emails to the company later with no response, I finally got through to an actual person at the carrier. After waiting this long, I still haven't gotten anywhere with anyone.
