What Shoppers Say About Dirt Devil Vacuum Cleaners
Dirt Devil vacuums are rated 1.5 out of 5 by 13 shoppers, with the vast majority expressing serious dissatisfaction. Recurring complaints center on poor durability, with customers reporting broken cords, cracked tubes, and failed components within days or weeks of purchase. Shoppers also cite significant functionality issues: hair and pet fur frequently clog brush rolls and suction paths, causing the vacuum to back up after minimal use. Maintenance is described as difficult and frustrating. Customer service experiences are uniformly negative, with shoppers unable to reach support or receiving unhelpful warranty responses.
A small number of shoppers report satisfaction with handheld models, praising their convenience for stairs and portable cleaning tasks. However, these positive experiences are far outweighed by complaints about build quality, design flaws, and inadequate customer support. Multiple reviewers explicitly recommend purchasing competing brands like Dyson or Eureka instead, and at least one customer filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

Sorted by: Most recentThis vacuum feels like a prank. It's a waste of money and your time. Who designs a vacuum that's impossible to empty or maintain? Hair clogs the brush roll after maybe a minute of use. I wouldn't even use this in my car. You get about a square yard of cleaning before it backs up completely. Just go buy a Dyson instead. This thing is worthless.
Been using the Scorpion hand vac for about half a year now and I'm really happy with it. It's perfect for cleaning my stairs since I don't have to haul a full-size vacuum up and down. Works great on carpet. The filter can be cleaned with a tissue when debris builds up, but I'd recommend picking up extra filters just to have them on hand.
Picked up a handheld vac from an online retailer and it's not at all what I was hoping for from Dirt Devil. The tube that holds the dust started cracking. I reached out to them since I'd registered the unit, but they told me it wasn't under warranty. That's ridiculous. I won't be buying Dirt Devil again and I filed a complaint with the BBB.
Had this vacuum for only seven days before the cord broke and I had to duct tape it. Then the tube came loose from the connector. Worst vacuum I've ever bought in my life.
Got a pet vacuum from a big retailer and after two weeks the small attachment quit working on me. That wasn't ideal but I could live with it. Then the plug prong broke off inside my outlet. I'm not careless with electronics, I know how to properly unplug things. When I called customer service, I couldn't get anyone on the phone or through email. The box says lifetime warranty and the papers inside mention a two-year coverage, but the retailer won't help after 30 days and Dirt Devil won't either. The warranty means nothing to me now. Won't be buying from this brand again and I'd suggest looking elsewhere if you want actual coverage on your purchase.
Bought an upright Dirt Devil from a major retailer, red colored. Hands down the worst vacuum I've ever had. My dog's fur constantly gets stuck and clogs the system. I'm always clearing out the path to the suction chamber. It's really hard to push and just terrible overall. Should've spent the extra money on a Eureka. This is junk and I won't buy from you people ever again.
Poor quality, terrible customer support, and the belt snapped after just under three months. Not an easy repair and they used cheap hardware everywhere. The whole thing turned into a nightmare experience.
This is my second Endura Express from Dirt Devil. The first one stopped picking up dirt so foolishly I bought another. The red canister top is impossible to get back on after you empty it. I'm so frustrated with this product. I promised myself I'd never get another Dirt Devil but here I am with two broken units. Thinking about trying Bissell next. If someone wants these two worthless vacuums feel free to take them.
Skip this one. The handheld with the motorized brush has barely decent suction, and after a year of light use just touching up my living room and hall the brush started acting up and only works sometimes. I've kept it maintained and the contacts clean so I'm not sure what happened. Getting customer service is a pain and they won't help, just keep insisting I didn't care for it right. For just over 100 bucks I wasn't looking for premium performance but this is way below average.
