What Shoppers Say About officinegenerale.com
Officine Generale receives overwhelmingly negative feedback, with shoppers reporting serious issues across customer service, product quality, and business practices. Recurring complaints include refund disputes (customers forced into gift cards instead of cash refunds), misleading manufacturing claims (items marketed as European-made but sourced from China, India, or Tunisia), quality control problems (defective seams, fraying linings after minimal wear), and poor customer service responses to legitimate concerns. The brand's historical reputation appears damaged by recent changes in sourcing and policies.
The few positive elements mentioned are limited to past in-store experiences and initial product appeal, but these are vastly outweighed by current disappointments. Shoppers describe feeling misled by website information, frustrated by refund delays and process complications, and dissatisfied with the durability of expensive items. Multiple reviewers note a decline from what the brand used to be, suggesting deterioration in both manufacturing standards and customer care.

Sorted by: Most recentThis is completely unacceptable. I got my husband an Officine Générale coat for his birthday and there was a tiny issue with one of the seams. After gifting it I contacted them about it and even suggested we just get a local tailor to fix it if they'd cover the cost since that would be cheaper than them replacing it with international shipping involved. Instead they insisted on replacing it and sent an exchange label. Then out of nowhere I get a refund with zero explanation. I tried contacting them again thinking it was a mistake but they just said tough luck, the coat can't be replaced and I need to buy something different. I asked to get my original coat back and just pay to fix it myself. They refused. This is insane. I already gave the gift and spent time picking it out. Plus I bought it on sale at a discount so I can't just buy another coat at full price like they suggested. This is the worst customer service I've experienced.
Fair warning - be very careful with this company. I'm not saying it's definitely shady but something feels off. Bought a jacket online and sent it back requesting a refund to my bank account. Instead of refunding my money like a normal business would, they issued a gift card and absolutely refuse to give me my cash back. Make sure you know what you're getting into before ordering from them.
This used to be a solid brand but it's gone downhill. They claim to make stuff in Europe but nearly everything is now manufactured in China, India, or Tunisia. Even their basic everyday items that their website says are made in Europe are actually coming from China now. It feels dishonest to leave that on the website when they clearly don't believe in it anymore. The in store quality shows the difference too - loose threads, thinner materials. On top of that they charge different prices depending on where you live even though shipping costs are already factored in. The price differences are way more than they should be, like 8 to 10 percent instead of just a percent or two for taxes.
Nothing like what it looked like online. The return process moved quickly, completed within 2 days, but then I was told it would take 2 to 4 days for my refund. That turned into 14 more days for quality control checks plus another 4 days for the actual refund. Their customer service is a total joke and the clothes are pretty mediocre too.
Really disappointed by how this went down. I've always loved their clothes and had good experiences shopping in their stores, so this really stings. My family gave me a 250 dollar gift card based on what their website said at the time - that gift cards worked both online and in physical locations. I also had store credit to use. When I went to the store in New York and tried to use both, they said the gift card was only for online purchases. I reached out and even sent screenshots of what the website originally stated. Customer service kept saying it was just confusion, not wrong info. Then mysteriously the website got updated to say online only, but nobody tried to fix the actual problem. They basically just said oh we fixed the website and that was that. Nobody offered to refund me or do anything else to make it right. It's frustrating that I got a gift based on false information and they won't own up to it.
Really let down by their customer service on this one. Bought an expensive suede jacket from them through their London location for over 800 pounds. It's a beautiful piece but the quality is questionable. After just two months of light wearing, the lining inside the pocket started fraying and coming loose. I sent them photos and their idea of helping was basically offering me a free repair if I shipped it back. So their solution to a defective luxury item was to make me deal with the inconvenience of returning it. That was it. When I asked about other ways they could make it right, the best they could offer was 15 percent off a future purchase. That's pretty insulting when you think about it - I'd have to spend more money just to benefit from their so-called compensation. Really upset about this because it was a special item for me and the whole thing has been spoiled by cheap quality and cheap customer service.
Bottom line is they don't actually care about fixing problems. I complained about several mistakes they made along with terrible communication and rude interactions. When I asked for a refund to make things right, they flat out said no. Instead they offered me 50 pounds off my next purchase. That's completely tone deaf if you ask me. A discount on future shopping mainly helps them, not the customer who had a legitimate complaint they failed to address. This company has serious problems and I don't see them getting better anytime soon.
They're running a scam operation. My order never got refunded and they ignore every email I send. Save yourself the trouble and don't buy from them.
Don't expect good service if you need to return or swap something. Ordered a jacket from their site and when it arrived, it was way too tight. I sent it back asking to exchange it for a bigger size. Three weeks went by with nothing. I had to bug them repeatedly just to get a response. When they finally got back to me, the larger size was already sold out even though it was available when they approved my request. So my whole order just got cancelled. This isn't the only time this has happened based on what I've read. Everything's fine until you actually need customer service, then it falls apart. Pretty sad for a brand charging luxury prices. That's the first and last time I'll order from them. They need to get their act together.
This was absolutely my worst online shopping experience by far. BE CAREFUL - you will run into serious problems. Their customer service is basically nonexistent and you can't get anyone on the phone to actually talk to. I ended up having to file a dispute with PayPal just to get my money back because they wouldn't even tell me what was happening with my refund. They're completely clueless about how to treat a customer or provide decent service. I'm done with them for good.
