What Shoppers Say About Hippo Video
Hippo Video has a polarized user base with significant issues dominating recent feedback. Shoppers who have positive experiences praise the software's straightforward design, ease of use for recording and sharing custom videos, and appreciate the analytics dashboard for tracking marketing impact. However, a majority of recent reviews cite serious problems with customer support responsiveness, with users reporting weeks-long delays or complete non-responses to support requests. Additional complaints include technical failures such as videos not saving, disappearing features (like the AI photo avatar tool), unclear billing practices that require support intervention to manage, and an overall clunky interface that detracts from the user experience.
The most damaging pattern across negative reviews is the disconnect between initial positive experiences and rapid deterioration in service quality, particularly around support and technical reliability. Users express frustration that problems persist despite multiple escalations and that there is no self-service mechanism for account management, forcing continued dependency on a support team that many describe as unresponsive.

Sorted by: Most recentOverall, I've had a really good experience with Hippo Video. The software is straightforward to use and makes it simple to record and share custom videos that feel personal. It's perfect for making your marketing and sales messages more impactful and polished. I love the straightforward design and especially appreciate the analytics dashboard that shows you how many people watched your videos and what they did. The free tier does have some limitations on fancier features, but you still get tons of useful stuff out of it. If you're in marketing, sales, or running a smaller company and want to step up your video communication game, this tool is definitely worth checking out.
I've got a lifetime account here and until recently it worked great. Now my videos won't save. I record something and it just disappears. I've messaged support several times about this and every single time they say they'll escalate it and take care of it. Nothing ever happens. It's the worst customer support experience I've had.
Had a Hippo Video subscription for about 7 months with no complaints until early 2025 when things fell apart. I tried using the AI photo avatar feature, which only costs 50 cents per minute. The site told me I'd run out of AI credits, so I spent $50 to buy more. When I came back a week later to use it, the avatar creation tool had vanished from the interface. I reached out to support and waited 2 hours for a response, only to be told they'd get back to me via email later. I got frustrated and cancelled. Looking back, maybe there was some confusion between the AI video avatar and AI photo avatar features, but support should have caught that and explained it instead of leaving me hanging.
The support team is terrible, and the interface isn't great either. The whole experience feels clunky.
Don't bother with their customer support team. Once you hand over money for a subscription, they basically disappear. Weeks can pass without a response to your questions. Managing billing is a nightmare too. There's no actual dashboard where you can update your payment methods yourself. Instead, you have to contact support and hope they respond, and then they send you a temporary link to access your payment info. It feels sketchy because they can easily lock you out from your own card details whenever they want. Also worth noting: this is an Indian-based company that uses Western-sounding names when they chat with you, which is misleading right from the start. The actual product itself isn't terrible and has some decent features, but it needs improvements in several areas. Another annoying thing is they plaster their branding all over the code even after you pay, and they claim paid users get white label functionality, but that's not really accurate.
This is really disappointing. I spent over 10 days going back and forth in support chat trying to get my account upgraded, and absolutely nothing got done. I expected way better service than this, and I hope other users aren't dealing with the same problem. Based on this experience, I can't recommend this platform to anyone.
