What Shoppers Say About Whirlpool USA
Whirlpool USA receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from shoppers, with 19 reviews averaging 1.9 out of 5. The dominant complaint centers on premature product failures across multiple appliance categories, including washers, dryers, and refrigerators experiencing electronic malfunctions within one to two years of purchase. Shoppers report frustration with warranty limitations that exclude electronic components despite premium pricing, and a service experience marked by repeated technician visits that fail to resolve underlying issues. A small percentage of reviewers (21 percent) report satisfaction, though negative reviews describe a pattern of defective machines, poor customer support responsiveness, and technician scheduling or competency problems.
The few positive reviews stand in sharp contrast to the predominant experience. Shoppers emphasize reliability concerns and question whether purchasing from Whirlpool represents good value given the failure rates and service difficulties documented. The warranty structure emerges as a secondary pain point, with customers feeling misled about coverage for expensive electronic components. Overall, shoppers express strong dissatisfaction with product durability and the company's approach to resolving defects.

Sorted by: Most recentI invested in a premium Maytag washer and dryer combination and after just two years the dryer's electronics failed completely. It turns out the 10-year parts warranty only covers two specific components on the entire machine, and all the electronic parts are excluded from coverage. Now I'm stuck with an expensive worthless dryer sitting in my basement.
My counter-depth French door refrigerator arrived at the end of October and has had a defective door seal since day one. I've had authorized Whirlpool service visit five times since early December and I have to take off work for each appointment, which they space out 7-10 days apart. The problem still isn't resolved. Now they're scheduling a sixth visit where they plan to add washers under the door to try to make it work better. There's already one washer there. I called customer service escalation and found out that only two of my five visits were actually documented in their system. They then told me I'd need the same problem to happen three times within 30 days just to qualify for a replacement, which is impossible to achieve with their appointment scheduling anyway. I will never purchase another Whirlpool appliance.
I bought a washing machine in September 2024. By November 2025 it wouldn't drain properly and the display kept flashing error codes. The machine won't start a new cycle or respond to anything. A service technician replaced the pump, drain, and digital screen, but mentioned he's been seeing this problem constantly in this brand and model. Fixing it again would cost about as much as buying new. Then the exact same issue happened again today. My only options are paying 363.80 for one repair or 32.99 monthly for a year of coverage. This machine is only year and a half old. Apparently Whirlpool treats these as disposable now. We're getting a different brand for our next washer.
Absolutely do NOT buy from Whirlpool. I purchased a Maytag washing machine earlier this year, and since January it's needed repairs four separate times. Today was the fourth visit and they still can't figure out what's causing the issue. Instead of admitting the machine is defective, they keep sending technicians to swap out parts and guess. I've had to miss work repeatedly for their 4-hour appointment windows. Now they want to schedule a fifth repair visit to throw more parts at it rather than just admit this is a lemon and replace it. This is ridiculous waste of my time and energy. They had no problem grabbing my money when I bought this garbage, but getting it fixed is like pulling teeth.
I got a Maytag two months ago and it's barely worked. It keeps showing error code F2E2, and support suggested I unplug it for five minutes and plug it back in. That worked briefly, then it stopped working altogether. I scheduled a repair but the technician's vehicle broke down. Then he called to say he forgot his wrench and had to go back for it, and his truck broke down again on the way. The appliance company texted saying they already know which part we need without even looking at the machine first. Yeah right. When the tech finally arrived a week later, surprise surprise, it was the wrong part. Apparently the correct one is on backorder but honestly who knows if it'll ever show up. When I tried to visit the repair location in person to talk to someone, the warehouse looked so dark and run down that I refused to even get out of my car. The back entrance was even worse. I really regret buying this Maytag dryer and hope my experience stops someone else from buying a Maytag or any Whirlpool brand.
Our old Whirlpool microwave lasted nearly 25 years without issue, so when it finally broke we figured the budget-friendly replacement would work just as well. Well, it turns on, that's about where the good news ends. The defrost setting is the only one that works reasonably, and even that goes from gentle thawing to burning everything in a minute or two. Anything higher than 450 watts is honestly dangerous with how intense the heat output is. We'll be going with a different brand next time.
Honestly, zero stars should be an option. We paid premium price for this microwave and it quit working in less than two years, which is pathetic. Customer service was completely useless, insisting we should have purchased extended coverage even though the product doesn't offer that option at all. I'm never buying another Whirlpool product again.
During installation of my new microwave, the technician damaged both my kitchen cabinet and tile backsplash, plus the microwave itself got broken. A week passed and I still hadn't received any resolution. This company makes it impossible to get problems addressed if you're busy with work or life.
My refrigerator started having issues less than three weeks after I bought it due to a faulty sensor. The food got ruined and worse, two expensive medications were destroyed as well. The company called to apologize and offered a replacement, but that just created more hassle and I got another low quality unit anyway. I would've preferred they offer me an extended warranty at no cost instead, since I'm probably going to need it.
I used to be a loyal Whirlpool customer but will never buy from them again. This has been an absolutely terrible experience. The washer is the worst one I've ever owned and the customer service is even worse. I needed service on February 10th but it's now March 2nd and the machine still isn't fixed. All I keep hearing is that the part is backordered and they don't know when it'll arrive. They won't give me a replacement unit or help with laundry expenses while I wait. Totally unacceptable.
