Unfortunately it came severely damaged. After some back and forth the seller organized a replacement, but when we built the new one the brand badge was loose inside and the rivets holding the heavy metal badge were snapped. First contact with Char-Broil got a new badge sent along with what they said would be the right fasteners. A week later when it finally showed up, only one fastener arrived and then they went silent. At the same time I asked if I could buy an additional part separately. When they said no, I suggested they could just send it free since I was doing their repair work. Instead of being reasonable they got defensive. I've been firm in my responses lately, even saying they're about as helpful as a chocolate BBQ, but that's honestly what happens with bad service. Got so fed up I bought a much pricier competitor brand instead.
Had to replace my old Outback BBQ after years of solid performance, so I picked up the GAS2COAL 440 2.0 four burner after seeing it in the showroom. Big mistake. Assembly was annoying and you definitely need two people and at least two hours to put it together. Fair warning too, the gas storage cabinet is way too small for UK-style bottles, so yours has to sit outside. The design is a sealed container, which is problematic because unlike my old one, you can't fill the drip tray with sand and empty it regularly. The grease just piles up inside and could actually catch fire, making the thing kind of dangerous to use. I had a flare-up on the first cook that burned everything on the food rack. And cleaning is a hassle since the area under the burners is tough to get properly clean.
Would give negative stars if I could, no joke. Don't buy a Char-Broil grill period, and definitely skip the combo gas and charcoal model. It's junk, straight up junk for the price. Had mine under a covered area when storing it and it corroded and rusted up after only a handful of uses last summer. They denied my warranty claim. Total garbage.
Got a Char-Broil 4600s model from a major retailer in summer 2020 and had it shipped to my vacation place. Didn't make it over there until summer 2021 because of everything going on. When I unpacked it, the left side stainless steel hood had visible corrosion marks. Sent pictures to customer service and their suggestion was to try baking powder. Didn't work. When I reached back out they basically said the grill was out of warranty so there was nothing they could do. This cost me more than eight hundred dollars and it arrived damaged without even being used once. Compare that to their main competitor who stands behind their stuff with a ten year warranty. I can't recommend this brand.
