We tried so many different coding platforms before this and kept running into issues, but this one finally checked all our boxes. Strengths include fantastic course selection covering tons of different languages and difficulty levels, engaging and entertaining teaching style that keeps adults interested too, clean interface that's easy to navigate, and straightforward learning path. Downsides include needing to download software for the more challenging courses, which took me a bit to figure out on my Mac because I didn't realize it was a security setting issue at first. Overall though, this is definitely a premium service. I'm already thinking about signing them up for private tutoring since the self-paced courses are so solid. Looking forward to updating once we try that.

I'd love to say something here without it sounding like I was paid to write this, but honestly we're just really thankful our son had the chance to take one-on-one Java and Minecraft modding sessions for an extended period. When lockdowns happened, it really kept him engaged and motivated to keep learning and growing his programming abilities. The instructors have switched up over time, but every single one was friendly and encouraging, and our son never had complaints. Customer communication worked smoothly for us too.

The support response time is painfully slow. It's hard to even get decent communication going. My son was really into Minecraft and wanted to explore modding, so I reached out beforehand to ask about computer requirements. I was assured that as long as the machine ran Windows 10 or 11, we'd be set. Turns out they glossed over the fact that Minecraft modding and other applications have their own specific system needs. None of my computers met those specs. When I brought this up, they showed no interest in helping solve the problem or even apologizing for giving me incomplete information. I definitely wouldn't recommend them. Look elsewhere.

The support team is basically nonexistent. When you're stuck on something, there's nobody there to help. We got hung up on the Python Robohacker quiz at level 4-9 with zero assistance. How are kids supposed to make progress if there's nobody explaining what success actually looks like? I can't recommend Codakid.
